Stomach Bug---Six Weeks Out

Last night I was woke up around 3AM with terrible cramps that soon became diarhea.  I suffered through the whole rest of the night until about 5:30 AM when I started to get a little break and was able to sleep for a couple hours.  Then some more toilet time and then a good long stretch of sleep from 9AM to 1PM.  After I got up I tried drinking some water and it stayed down.  Since 1PM I've continued to have the runs every hour or so.  The cramp that I get is way down low in the belly and as soon as it comes on I have to run to the potty.   All I've put in my body today is about 18 ounces of water.  I'm scared to take my vitamins or any other meds or drink anything else.  I'm pretty sure that it's a virus because I have the body aches and headache with it.   My question is...has anyone else had a virus after surgery and if so, did your doctor recommend any actions?  Am I right to just stick to the water and wait this out?  I'm very afraid of getting dehydrated, but at the same time I can't drink too much without cramping up.  I don't understand how I can be having so much diarhea when I've put nothing in my body for a full 24 hours now bu****er.  Where the heck is it coming from?  I know some of you will tell me to call my doctor, and I will if it persists, but I wanted to give it time to run it's course.   Thanks for any input you may have.

Hi Chris. I certainly hope that by the time you read this that you are feeling much, much better. Tomorrow morning call your doctor if you are still having the runs or you'll be stuck on Sunday with no one.  You are right to keep hydrated , but if it does not resolve itself by morning...you should really call.  There is a bug going around but sometimes it's best to   Not just assume. Maybe The Doc will want some labs drawn to make sure that your electrolytes and potassium are stable. Please update - OK? (((HUGS))) Take Care~~ Diane

I think things are clearing up.  I only had to get up twice in the night and both times were minimal.  This morning I went ahead and took my meds and vitamin and ate a crispy piece of toast. So far so good.  Of course I also started my period this morning and the horrible hemrroid that the all the toilet time caused decided to break open and bleed...so isn't this just a fun day?   If the diarhea keeps coming back on today then I will call the doctor.  I really, really hope that it doesn't!!!
