Have any of you experienced......
Have any of you experienced faintness or dizzyness when you get up too fast?
Let me give you a bit of background. My surgery was 10/4/06 and before surgery I was on high blood pressure. After I left the hospital, they left me on the BP meds, but told me to contact my doctor. After a week, I found myself, dizzy, lightheadedness, and faint, so I called my PCP and she said to cut it in half. Well, after another week of that, I removed myself from it complately and told my PCP. All was fine. Now, lately, when I get up from the couch, I find that I get almost complete tunnel vision and have to stop and make sure I don't pass out. I haven't passed out yet, but sometimes I feel very close to it. I am trying to get up slower from the couch but it still happens.
Anyone else experience this? What causes it? How to prevent it? I have to call my surgeon's office and see what they say, but thought I'd throw this out to you all.
Thanks,

Molly, I sometimes have low blood pressure since I lost the weight so I watch that I do not get up to quickly since I am not sure when it will hit. It is not always low so I am not making an issue of it now but jus****ching it. I have added a little more salt into my diet and it seems to help. The Cardio Dr recommended that since I do not have a problem with the salt so I tried it, seems to help. Other then jus****ching it and adding the salt I am not sure what you can do, just be careful and do not get up to quickly. Make sure you are standing for a while before getting into the shower or doing anything like that.
Also have you had your levels checked recently? Something could be off there as well. So much stiff to watch since we have the surgery but so worth it. Keep us posted hun and I wish you all the best!
I had one day where I experienced a lot of dizzyness and felt as if I was going to faint when I got up or climbed the stairs. It happened that the next day was my appt with my surgeon. He told me that some of this can be caused by not enough hydration. To make sure to get in the water and fluids. Now I make a point to watch and make sure I take in enough fluids and it definitely has helped.
Hope this helps a little.
Sally
Thanks everyone for your responses. I had my blood work done back in April. I haven't been back to a follow-up with my surgeon's office since my 3 month follow-up because of starting a new job and not being able to take any time off. I will be able to go to the dr in September. I might just have them send me a script for more bloodwork so I can take a look at it. In April, all my levels were fine, but it has been 3 more months since then.
I try to get between 100-120oz of fluids each day. I'll let you know what I find out when I have my bloodwork done. thanks again
