Does anybody go to Dr. Posner?
Hi Diane,
I was gonna go to Posner until I found out the hoops you must jump through. My friends husband is having his surgery done by him and I know it is a loooong process. Having to to do South Beach 3 months prior and keeping a food journal to document everything that goes in his mouth.
Some people have no problem with that but I did South Beach before. I lost with it yes, but it came back and some. I wanted this surgery like yesterday. I didn't want to wait any longer than I had to. After I did my research I felt as though Dr C was better for me. Everyone is different. Good Luck to you!

Hi,
I am also in the pre-op process with Dr. Forbes who works with Dr. Posner. I have completed all of my lab work, sleep study, psych eval, and am currently doing the south beach. I have an appointment with Dr. Forbes in August as well and will find out my date at that time. It hasn't been so bad. I'm happy about having all of this work done because I had no idea I had sleep apnea and I was just called yesterday about my labs. I was positive for H.Pylori and will be on antibiotics for a couple of weeks. I haven't been getting as much exercise as I should, but I will hit the gym at some point this week. Thanks for listening and I hope your journey goes smoothly.

I originally called Dr. Posners office before going to Dr. Carauana and Dr. Posners office told me that my daughter would have to loose 100 lbs before he would perform surgery on her. If she could loose that much on her own why would she need surgery???????? Her and I wanted to do the surgery together. We called and got in with Dr. C and were thrilled. He was able to schedule us for the surgery as soon as we did our psyche exam and our fitness training. It was the right decision for us because we knew before even going that we wanted our procedures done open not laporscopically. Every one is different. Neither one of us had any complications and neither of us needed any blood transfusions. ( I have read on this board where two people who had lap needed transfussions before they were released from the hospital. ) The other deciding factor was that I preferred Sisters hospital over Buffalo General but that is also just a personal thing. I didn't want to be in a room with another patient (who was in the hospital for who knows what) and I wanted to be in a private room and that is all Dr. Carauana will allow his patients to be in.
My friend had surgery with Dr. Posner 2 years ago and has been very happy with him but that was before he had all these sitpulations and guidelines to follow. Her daughter in law just had the surgery last month and had it with Dr. Carauana's office and my friend was thrilled with her daughter in laws care and progress. So it is all a very personal choice. You have to do what is right for you. Good luck to you in your journey.

Diane,
I orginally was going to go to Dr posner also. Had my first appt on may 22nd. I even went to the seminar in april. But then I changed my mind from having lapband to rny so I herd that dr caruanna had a doc named Dr p that did this also so I switched over in may got my appt beginning of may and got my aproval an da surgery date before I even had my first appt with Dr posner.dr p since then left the office and then i had to switch to Dr caruanna to do it open not laprosocpic. with dr posner you have to go on the souhtbeach diet for a couple of months before you can even meet with the the dr. I diddn't like that idea of not being able to meet wih dr what if I didn't like him. Plus I have been on way to many diets i didn't want to do any more. Also he is so far away for me. Dr caruanna is a very skilled dr with lots of experience and I just had my surgery 1 week and 2 days ago and I am glad I went with him. I'ts not just the wait with Dr posner,it was the experience that dr caruanna has. He is a very carring man and a great doctor. I would call the office at 565-3990 and schedule appt. they will give you a pasword to do a seminar over the computer through there website. Then you print the paper work out fiil it in and hand it in . it doesn't matter if all you letters were addresed to dr posner, they will still take them as they did for me , You just tell them you changed your mind and want to got with Dr caruanna. You will probally be oppersated on in 0ct. if you go with Dr posner you probally won't be operated on until january 2008. Good luck with what ever you decide.
