I noticed how the doc kept saying "quick fix" ....but If the person is not mentaly ready for change than wls isnt going to do them any good.    Wls is just a tool

I watched most of the day yesterday.  And I too got mad at the quick fix.  We have to work at this for the rest of  our lives . . . How the H&*^ is that quick?  Also, Robert Coleman wasn't an md or any other type of doc so what the H^*& makes him qualified to say wls is to much of a risk.  And it's not a grape according to my surgeon it's a golfball!HAHAHA.  I have also watch Big medicine and will save my opinion until after tonights showing.

A girls gotta find some fun somewhere.

Since I got so pissed off & stopped watching, what happened to the guy with the elephant leg?  It was really gross to look at, I felt so sorry for him, but he was STILL in denial.  he's the one whose girlfriend kept sneaking food in to him!  Last I saw, he was considering amputation. And they say OUR surgery is drastic?  He wouldn't stop cheating so they could save the leg, but in the end he'd rather have lost it than lose weight.   And I think Robert Coleman is a jerk.  A cute, well-meaning jerk, but a jerk nonethelsss.  I'd like to know the relapse rate for his patients. O.K., I'm finished venting now. Have a great day! Karen

Karen - They really didn't say what happend to that guy other than he wanted to be amputated.  His girlfriend on a previous show had wls!!  And as for Mr. Coleman's rep from the shows I saw later into the night, the reoccurance rate is pretty darn high.  He let's them cheat so he doesn't feel bad for them.  There was one guy who gained 300lbs while he was there(or something like that).  HOW DOES THAT HELP?  Ok I too am done ranting for the day.

A girls gotta find some fun somewhere.

OMG! I was fuming when I listened to that doctor deter his patients from getting the help they need.  I could be way off base, but if she has a food addiction and is unable to control herself, wouldn't the surgery help her with control???? If she eats too much she'll get sick, after awhile she won't eat so much, because getting sick isn't pleasant. I'm definately watching Big Medicine with my lil sis tonight. Hopefully they won't extend such a negative view of WLS to its viewers. I think they needed someone to show the positive side of WLS or at least someone objectively telling both sides. And from what I watched of the program, they were only promoting their clinic.  But Que Sera, Sera...

I watched Big Medicine last night, and it is a positive view of WLS...it's a father&son team of docs and it was a heck of a lot better show than the one about Brookhaven.

I have been watching the show for a few weeks now with my Mom. From what I can tell the ones who have the food sent in are lazy and do not want to help themselves become healthier.  It is NOT a hospital it is a nursing home in Queens, NY with a dept to help the obese. It is NOT a hospital. The Director is not a doctor he is a director if the program, im not sure if he understands the physical and mental happenings in his "patients" i believe he is basically there as a laision between Brookhaven and insurance companies... When i have time I think I will look into Brookhaven further. Just sad that this telivison program is giving a warped few of morbidly obese people because of a certain few that are selected to be showed o the program.
