Long Island Bariatric Center?

Does anyone here have any experience with the Long Island Bariatric Center (http://www.doryferraro.com/index.html)? I was thinking about setting up an appointment and wondered if anyone here is familiar with them. Thanks in advance!

I used Dory for my fills after being lap-banded in Mexico. Dory gave me excellent fills and when I had trouble with my band she was certainly there for me. I have no knowledge of the doctors she works with for lapband or RNY procedures. Having said that, now that I have to be un-banded due to an esophagus problem and have better insurance, I am using Dr. Garber. I haven't had my RNY yet, but I am very impressed by him, his staff, their efficiency, and most importantly, the results and low compication rate of his patients like Fern. Karen

Wouldn't me calling Dr. Garber being akin to picking my surgeon? The way I understood it, the people at Long Island Bariatric would help me decide a surgeon somewhere down the line.

Yes I used Dory and the LIBC and I love her. I had Dr DeCspel who no longer is doing surgery because he went to Africa on a mission however I am wondering if Dr Gabriel is still working with her? If yes then I highly recomend him, he preformed the surgery with my dr. Dory and her staff are wonderful, helpful and very educated on Bariatric surgery. Any questions please feel free to ask away. Thanks for the info. I'm slightly envious of you... You had your surgery done on Halloween and that is my favorite holiday. I would consider that a good sign from God if I had surgery scheduled on that date.

If you need an alternative recommendation, Dr. Lester Cooperstone works out of North Shore LIJ right in Syosset where it appears that you live. I know several people who had him perform their RNY bypass and they are doing superbly. His assistant Fern who runs the support meetings is excellent. Since support is key to this process I thought you might want a local recommendation. If you are looking for lapband surgery, Dr. Alan Geiss works in the same hospital. I hope this helps too. You should shop around for the doctor you feel comfortable with.

I personally know someone who had theirs done by Cooperstone and while they had success I DEFINITELY don't want an open procedure.

I have my first appointment at LIBC next Wednesday and I'm pretty excited.  Hopefully this is the first major step in the thing that will finally change my life.
