I'm Home!
Well I had my surgery on Wednesday and I am on the road to healing. I was suppose to stay in the hospital until this morning but they said I was doing so well that they sent me home at 3pm yesterday afternoon. Boy was I excited. I am sipping tha****er, using my incentive spirometer and walking. I walked outside twice today. Not real far, but enough to keep away the blood clots. I have gained 5lbs in water weight.............
I was on a really strong diuretic before the surgery and they told me not to take it. I am not sure how this is going to effect me. I can already feel it in my ankles and fingers (that is always where I notice the swelling the most and first). My urine is nice a light colored. I was wondering, did anyone else experience this whole diuretic thing? How long did they keep you off them? Were you ever allowed to take them again? Since coming home my blood sugars have been within normal limits and no medications.........so I am rejoicing about that.
Well time to go take it easy and drink some more water. Thanks to everyone on here for all their prayers, support and encouragement.

Sally,
welcome home and glad all is going good.
Now make sure you get your rest
take your time and heal. I gained so much in water weight and it took a bit before it went away. I was not taking any diaretics but maybe since the surgery you might not need them?
I guess you will just have to see as you move along, did your surgeon say anything about going back on them?......
Keep us posted hun

Hi Sally,
I never took Diuretics but let me say this: I came home from surgery so bloated that the bra I wore to the hospital didn't fit at all!!! So I went home with the girls "hanging out"! LOL It took like 3 weeks before the bra fit. I hated how I felt but I think it's all SO worth it in the end.
Hang in there and stay connected
Hugs,
Karen
