amount of time from consult to surgery

Just wondering about how long from the time you have your first consult to the date you get your surgery date. Some say 4 months, some say 6 months or more.

I am in Jamestown, NY using Synergy Bariatrics in Williamsville, NY (near Buffalo). I had my initial consult w/ Dr. Panemanglore on 3/21/07. My surgery date was scheduled about 3 weeks later for 5/29/07. I was held up a bit by my PCP sending a letter of neccessity. They were'nt very helpful to me. Now my friend, who is having surgery with me was much quicker. I think all of her stuff was done in about 10 days. We both have the same insurance too...Independent Health. Holy moly! April got hers through faaaast! I alled for initial consult at the beginning pof Jan, got in Feb 19th, Group intake meeting a month later, Individual intake meeting a month after that, just had a physical in the surgeons office last week, have an endoscopy on May 31st, and am just waiting for insurance approval and a date. If all goes well, I hope it will fall somewhere around the mid of June (earlier would be fab, but probably a pipe dream). So far, we are probably looking at around 5 months, if the insurance approves the first time around. My sister's process was about 3 months, in Syracuse. I am really healthy, outside of my weight, no co-morbidities, so they were not a factor. I think it just depends on your particular center and their requirements. Mine requires lots of hoops to jump through, I think to gauge your commitment to the process- before and after. Good luck to you! I hope it's a snap for you!

Six month for me. October 19 for consult and March 19 for surgery.

I am a bad person to ask. BXBS hadn't approved the lap band procedure, so mine was almost a year. Two years from the time I made my first call :| Once the actual procedure was approved and my weight was submitted, it was less than 3 weeks! BUT...I'm a Happy Bandster now! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Well just like April I am going through Synergy and Dr.Panemanglore as well. My first consult was April 16th and surgery is tomorrow May 15th so all in all about a month. I am very luck I know some people have to wait 6mos to a year! Well good luck on your journey!!!!
