Hernia repair

Well I've scheduled surgery to repair my incisional hernia for April 18th. I'm not looking forward to being cut open again but it needs to be done. If you have had this surgery, please let me know what to expect as far as recuperation, how much pain you experienced, and when you were able to go back to work. Thanks, Lynn

I had three hernias repaired and a tummy tuck at the same time. I was in the hospital for 4 days and driving by day 7. I was ready to go back to work in 3 weeks, but stayed out a fourth just because I really didn't want to go back to work. My surgery may have been a little more extensive than yours will be because of the tummy tuck, but at least this is a guideline for you. Of course, we all heal differently and you may bounce back faster or slower than I did. Hope all goes well for you. Where are you having it done? Joanne

i had a double hurnia repair, in november of 2005 the same year i had a big sist on my overy done. good luck on your surgury.

I'm having it done at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital - the same place and doctor that did my gastric bypass - Dr. Prichep - great doctor. Thanks for everyone's responses.
