She came through great!
My daughter had her open RNY on March 29th and everything went great. She was up and walking the halls that night. She didn't sleep too good at the hospital the first two nights but her last night when they started her on oral pain pills she slept really great. She came home on her thrid day post op as planned and was out for a walk that afternoon. Then we got hit with a foot of snow in our area so she has not gotten out much to walk but tomorrow is looking promising. I got a horrible cold the last day she was in the hospital and of course she came down with that this week, so the poor thing is recovering from surgery and fighting a cold too. She goes this Thrusday to get her staples out. On Easter sunday it had been 10 days and she was down 25 lbs. She is so excited and feels so good. No more pain pills and started on soft chicken and fish today. Biggest problem is the protein shakes with such little appitite. She even learned to give herself her heprin shots. I would say that she has a lot to be proud of only being 20 yo. There was another girl in the hospital (same surgeon) who was only 19 and she did well too. Nurses were just raving about how well the young kids were doing compared to the old ladies......lol. ( I am going to be one of the old ladies......lol). The surgeons office called and scheduled my surgery for May 16th so I will be on the loosing side real soon. Can't wait. Thanks to every one for the support. The suggestions on what to take to the hospital were great. We were glad we took the I Pod.
