my doctor didn't allow fruits at 4 weeks out, something about the body not processing htem correctly and getting in all of my proteins. I have a clementine now and again but that's about it for fruit unless we're talking about grilled pineapple which i happen to love for some reason with my teriyaki chicken! Be Well and Be healthy. I have had citris fruits but i did wait a little longer then 4 weeks out. You dont want to irritate your healing pouch as citris=acid. You dont want to cause any irritation while your body is healing. I would personally feel its to soon. Ask your surgeon or nutrionist what they recomend. A little later on it should be ok, however some can tolerate and others cannot. Our bodies are so differnt post op we really cant compare what one pouch can do to another. Good luck. Maybe stick to applesauce unsweetened if you want some fruit? I tried that early on to stick to protein puddings and chicken soups to get my needed protein in. But i did need a little applesauce every now and then to get the sweet in. Good luck and keep us posted.

Judy:
Each bariatric program has different recommendations. Which surgery did you have (I think I missed that)..I still do not eat citrus fruits, the concern is the membranes getting stuck in stoma, but that is me, I have had mandarin oranges though, or eat around the membrane. At 4 wk out I wouldnt entertain the thought of fruit period focus on protein protein and mroe protein for optimal wt loss, satiety and healing as well as decreasing muscle wasting!!! Fruit for me I'd wait a good 6 mo or more, but that is me. I still don't do too much an apple w/ skin but I waited 2 yrs or so... Give your honeymoon a chance to lose the optimal amt of wt and the pouch to heal so 6 mo is my vote!

Hi Judy
Be very careful with Citrus Fruits especially if you had acid reflux and/or gerd.
They may or may not bother you. But I would wait a little longer.
When it comes to any kind of fruit, because fruit produces sugar. Do not eat mixtures of fruit at the same time. Always eatt hem seperately. One fruit may make you dump whereas another may not so if you eat a mixture of fruit and you dump, you won't know which fruit caused it.
