LC, I have eaten Butterball turkey bacon and this morning on my breakfast strata, I had Oscar Mayer turkey bacon. Both are delicious. Butterball offers more protein per serving than OM, but both are great tasting. I'd like to echo your Thanksgiving sentiments and wish everyone a very happy and thankful Thanksgiving! Jen Halliday

Hi again, Okay so I just tried the turkey bacon. My brand was Jennie-O, 95% fat free, zero carbs. For me it was WAY too salty. i got through 1/2 a strip and i needed a drink...but had to wait 1/2 an hour! I was never one to use much salt but maybe the surgery made my taste buds more sensitive. Maybe it would be good cooked into a stew or dish but I tried it with eggs and cheese and it was just too salty. Wishing you better luck, -Karen

Karen~ Hello! I agree that our tastes change after WLS (or for many this is true). Most bacon (pork or turkey) is no carbs, it is just fat/protein, so IF we use a little 1-2 slices on ocassion even of the real stuff isn't the worst thing, afterall fat satisfies and we malabsorb it to some extent....Depends on your taste, if you have medical contraindications to prok fat (yummm) It is good we have choices though! I looked up real bacon and turkey on fitday, the turkey appears to have almost 2x+ the sodium as real (pork) per slice! 79mg/slice/pork VS 182mg/slice turkey........of course brands may vary! Jamie~

I also check the labels and decided to go for the pork bacon instead. I am really not a fan of the turkey bacon and unless you can't eat pork, and you prefer it, I say for it. They are essentially the same except that turkey bacon has more salt in it, however depends on the brand. I usually can only eat 1 slice anyway with my egg. Oh and if anyone wants to know how to make the perfect poached egg, pm me
