Post Op Diet
Does anyone know the difference between Dr. Garber's post op diet for Lap band vs. bypass. I originally considered the lapband and have all the information on that but since Ive changed to the bypass I haven't been able find out what the difference is post op. I've called the office to try to get a copy of the information the nutritionist gives out but I haven't gotten it yet, I asked the Dr. at my last appt and he said he didn't think there was much difference-but he would try to find me a copy in the office that day (I left forgetting about it). Im just trying to prepare for what is ahead.

Hi Debbie,
look on the website .... there is a post op section.
the big difference is NO sugars
I would call again and make sure that you get that packet. I think it is a wealth of information.

Debbie,
I am with Britt, call the office and make sure you get the copy of that ASAP. I am sure they might be able to even fax or email if it is not to big of a file. I wish you all the best!

Debbie:
Although each bariatric program has their own 'rulz' there is a lot of info online as well for postop diets such as at:

I agree w/ others I wouldn't rest until I had THEIR plan in my hands!!! Email, fax, snail mail, or go to office and p/up in person, we have to be advocates of our own healthcare sadly!
Most plans have pts on clear liquids x 2 wk so that is simple huh! (Think no sugar, no carbonation, no caffeine)
water, crystal lite *some need to water down even more, broths, decaf teas, propel fitness water, Flavored waters, sf popsicles, diet koolaid....
