Heparin Electricity?

Hi All, I am 2 weeks out wooohooo! All is going well so far. I have been having weird, rip-snap-like-electric-shock feelings (very hard to describe) in my right thigh localized to the area where I got all but one of the MANY Heparin shots (probably six injections). I have about five big black and blues in the area, which is to be expected, but these random sentations are VERY strange. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks again to all of you, my 2nd family. Hugs, Karen

Hi Karen, Yes, I remember the same feeling when the shots were in the thigh. It's like the nerve wa**** and is trying to "come back" to life. It does go away eventually. I just was in the hospital and had 6 days of heparin but in the stomach. Much better to take when the stomach is pinched and then the needle is inserted. Still many small bruises but no tingling sensations like when in the thigh. Congratulations on your surgery and best of luck with your weight loss journey!!! LindaM 230/116/115 1# to go to goal!!!

Hey Karen, It sounds like a nerve regenerating thats the way it feels. If it concerns you, bring it up to your surgeon by phone or email. I had to self inject lovenox shots into my stomach for 2 weeks after the surgery...YUCK...it sucked big time...and i had a band of black and blue around my stomach. Scott

Karen, OMG yes and the black and blues stayed for so long that it was so weird to me but that is the norm.....also I had such sensativity in the scars of my lap surgery. WOW I could not even stand a shirt touching it. Also when the nerves are healing and coming back it is a weird feeling as well....all normal... Yeah for your 2 weeks out.....congrats! Debra P
