Pain in butt..........literally!
Hi there! I'm new to this site. I'm post op for 2 years next month (lost 110 lbs with gastric bypass). I was wondering if anyone else has had pain in their tailbone (****ydinia)? I've been reading up on it and it does seem to be happening with some bypass patients. Apparently it has something to do with the skin sagging over the buttocks and not supporting the fat layer that is needed to pad the tailbone.
I have it!!! Thought it was just me. I am not down to my goal yet but almost there. It is not constant but it happens often. I am 10 months post op and down 96 lbs. Also I think I now have restless leg syndrome. My lower legs ache all the time, not hurt just achy crampy feeling. I have lost pretty much all but the skin on my butt, and I sit for my job, have been thinking about purchasing some kind of special cushion for my chair at work. But funny enough it happens more at home in my soft swivel/rocker, and my butt sometimes actually goes numb.
Great thread, I wonder how many of us do have this problem. Hey if it is common enough maybe just maybe insurance will cover having PS done in that area.

Insurance to cover it? From your mouth to heaven's ears! (grin) I've been thinking about getting that special pillow, too. I'm going to put it off though because I'm going to have my body lift done this January so I'll see what shape I'm in after that. It will be everything from the waist to the knees!

I call pains like that "skinny person pains"!
I have pains from my tailbone all the time. It just has to do w/the weight loss and not having padding there anymore like we used to.
I have sit on a pillow, like an old lady, most of the time b/c my tailbone pokes out and my whole bottom half goes numb from pains.
So dont worry you arent the only one!
