Hey debra, YOu don't have to exercise 1 or 2 hours at a gym to get a good work out, just take your doggies for a quick paced walk 4 to 5 times a week for 20 to 30 minutes and that would be considered a good exercise plan. If you get really "motivated", I think it's bob green, has an 8 minute work out, where he gives you exercises to do that take only 8 minutes a day. You can get denise austin tapes (she's very moderate and simple moves) and her workouts usually go 20 minutes. There are a ton of things that are easy and don't take a lot of time, I think the curves work out is only 30 minutes (but it's only for women..grrrrr..lucky women..lol). The best rule with exercise is find something you like, and do it regularly, it doesn't ahve to be a complicated gym routine to get you fit. Personally i do 20 minutes of yoga and about 15 minutes of band work (you can get resistance bands at marshalls tj max etc...for cheap) 3 times a week. Hope this is helpful. Scott BTW My trainer constantly tells me constantly that the Atkins diet is a sham, if it wasn't Dr. Atkins wouldn't have been SMO when he died.

Scott, Yes just a simple walk is a step in the right direction I know and that is what I am trying to do, even starting 30 mins 3 times a week, making that habit and then adding as it become 2nd nature. That is my goal at this time and if I lose more weight then that will be a bonus. Thanks hun Debra P

Hey Deb, I was so sorry to read this post; you are always such a ray of sunshine. It breaks my heart to hear you down in the dumps. There are "good carbs" and there are "bad carbs"...I am sure you know this. I know a few people I met here who have done very well following a modified South Beach diet. It's based on Glycemic Index. You might want to look into that as an option because it allows for carbs but they are the "better" carbs. Maybe you can call Dr. Garber's Nutritionist, Sharon, and do a phone session? Just ideas to toss around, Deb. It's hard...I have seen it in my Mom who had a RNY in 1998 and has gained back lots of weight. I think the trick is to know your trigger foods and avoid them: don't have them in the house, at work, anywhere. Work is hard...at my office there is always food out but my plan is to think of it as a form of "poison" for me, for lack of a better term. If crackers set you off, for example, don't buy them and look at them as toxic, because in the end, they are! Hugsss, Deb....we are all supporting you. -Karen

Debra! I think "we" are our own worst critics!!! We tend to be SOOOOO hard ourselves. I think you need to refocus and make little personal goals at first for you... and applaud your accomplishments! "Rome wasn't built in a day" Like you said ... its all about healthy living. Make a plan - and know YOU can do it!!! look how far you have come already. hugs, Britt

Andi, THANK YOU hun... Sometimes we just need to vent, be hard on ourselves and get on with moving forward! I know at times I need this as a kick in the ass to get myself serious again. THANKS again.... Debra P

Debra my dear, I had a very similar experience, well sort of. Remember I told you about being frustrated with my weight loss and starting a similar no carb thing last week? Well I ended up at a party over the weekend and ate myself into a stupor...that is, I ate small amts ALL DAY LONG. I was totally rebounding, like a bad relationship, from limiting my food intake. I learned a big lesson that day: The best way to eat (and lose weight) is sensibly, moderately, reasonably. Weight has a mind of its own. All we have to do is use the tool to make healthy eating decisions, a little of each kind of food (unless it makes us sick!), and move our bodies regularly. That's it. The rest is out of our hands and it will be what it will be. Maybe it's time to cut down on the amount you weigh yourself? I went recently from twice a d day, to every other day. It was just too frustrating. I feel for you honey, and as others have said, don't forget to look how far you've come. xoxoxoxoxoxo Amy

Amy, EXACTLY! You said to better then I can. Healthy eating is my way of thinking, well working on it anyways.. Once a week weigh in is what I will try to do from now on! It might just work out better. Thanks hun Debra P
