Good Evening All!!!! You have been such an inspiration to me in my pre op journey. Now I am anxious to get to the losing side. I was just about done with my pre op testing when I had an abdominal sonogram done as my surgeon requires. He wants to know if there are any gall stones present in the gall bladder, and if so, he will remove it while he is performing the bypass. Well.... I had no stones...but they did find a 'Uterine Mass" which resulted in a follow up CAT Scan with contrast. It most likely is a fibroid; but before he will operate, I have to get clearance from my GYN. Has anyone heard of a lap bypass being done even with a fibroid in the uterus? I'm soooo anxious to have my surgery, that I hope I will not have to have the fibroid removed before I undergo the bypass. Thanks for any input you can offer. Barbara

Hi Barbara, My uterus has 5 big fibroids. They cause terrible menstrual cramping and eventually I'll need a hysterectomy. They did not show on my abdominal sonogram, so yours is probably located higher up. I think seeing the gyno. first makes sense. If it's a simple fibroid, I'm sure he/she will say so in a letter to your surgeon. Better safe than sorry. Keep us posted and best of luck! -Karen

Hi Karen! Thanks for taking the time to respond. I felt so much better after reading your post. Yes, my fibroid is quite high. It's apparently at the top of the uterus. I have an MRI scheduled tomorrow evening and an appointment with my GYN on Monday morning.I just want this to be OVER and be able to join you on the loser's bench. I've been following your progress. You are doing phenominal!!!! Keep it up!!!! Best Wishes for continued success!!!!! Thanks again for the support. Barbara

bra: I haven't but I am thinking they could do the surgeries together if necessary! Many times I have heard of this (coordinating 2 docs schedules may be a *****allenging but not impossible)! Get well first so you can get to health easier/safely ok! HUGS! Afterall I appreciate the frustration but sometimes discovery/treatment of other things first is imperative to health! Hi Jamie, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I am hoping exactly what you said will be possible if necessary. I don't so much mind having to have the fibroid removed as long as the bypass does not have to be postponed. I might sound impatient but this surgery was a long time in the planning!!! Thanks again.
