Britt,
The one thing that really helped me while at the hospital was my pillow from home, it was so good to have something of MINE while I was there.
Also what I found I needed when I was there was a fan but then again it was June when I had my surgery.
When you come home make sure you have all the stuff you will need: your shakes or proteins, vitamins and sups. Make sure you have a comfy place to rest! I know that goodness that my Mom had a recliner because I stayed in that thing for the first 2 weeks.
well if ya have any more questions hun please email me or post back.

Debra,
I like the pillow idea! I have started buying all of the things i'll need when I get home. Tomorrow I am going to buy the Magic Bullet and a few other supplies, tums, flintones with iron, some SF mints for my sore throat (that i'll wake up with) ... ect.
I have heard a few people mention a recliner ... I am glad I have 1 sounds like I may be there a few nights.
My mom
is staying with me for 4 weeks (LOVE HER) to help care care of my little ones!( I am going to be spoiled
)

Heya Britt
I'll share here what I shared with you already just in case others can benefit.
I needed to have the following stuff (some I had, some I unfortunately didn't have handy).
I wish I had known.
4 x 4" sponges for the dressing changes
4 x 4" T-Drain sponges for the dressing changes (not easy to find)
gloves
paper tape, 2" or more is best
Flintstones Chewable w/ Iron
TUMS or Viactiv
Chewable Gas-X (CVS even has their own brand)
Sugarfree Cepacol lozenges
Chewable XtraStrength Tylenol
Pill Crusher/Cutter - a MUST
Babyfood applesauce - to mix with the crushed YUCKY-tasting pills
I'll keep adding to this post when my head clears!
Hugssss from your Angel

Karen:
Thanks for the list, can I comment not everyone will need dressing supplies, actually I think that itis the exception rather than the rule, the calcium you're mentioning is calcium carbonate, NOT the best for us, or absorbable. Clcium carbonate (what is in 99% of ca supps) needs stomach acid for absorbtion, and we no longer have much/any, so a waste of money, bones and risking kidney stones w/ the carbonate form as well.
Calium citrate is prefered form (note many surgeons sadly still say TUMS! go figure!) postop and well for me still I use UP CAL D (avail at www.bethsproteinboutique.com or www.vitalady.com) it is awesome all ground, smooth and hardly noticeable! I use it in my shakes 2x day and my other 2 doses I use citrical w/ D & Magnesium... Early on swallowing the citrical may be hard, now they do have a citrical chew, I wouldnt use it long term as has 35 cal/5g carbs a dose an I'd need 4 doses a day (plus the cost!) my upclal D is $18 or so for 227 doses!
Be well!
Take Care,
Jamie
