Today went shopping needed new pants down to size 12/14 maybe smaller than that. I didn't had the heart to go in store like Express,NYand Co.,Charlette Rouse all the small size store.I ended up in Avenue and LaneBryant knowing the clothes are to big for me.Forget about bras they don't sell my size frustrating.Since I lost this weight I still consider myself big,my co-workers say I'm to skinny but I don't see that. Well I ended up buying 1pr of pant from Avenue which did fit,it will last me till nov. On Friday I'll try this again and get all my courage and walk in a skinny store to purchase my fall clothing. Hey Claire I still can't bring myself into going in either even though I have purchased son ny&co express and limited clothing from ebay and they fit. I went to the mall with my daughter and she had to drag me away from ashley stewart. We went to old navy instead where I bought a few things. I say to myslef I know I'm smaller but I just don't know how much. I have a pair of sz 12 ny & co jeans and sz 12 express jeans which my daughter gave me I put them in my closet three days Later I got brave enough to try them on to see how I had to go and they fit. Complete disbelief in my eyes but I was even able to bend and squat. Trust me I know what you're going through I would just say go with a friend who will tell you the truth

Hi LovelyVee I usually buy some thing online but now I want to actually go in the store by myself without feeling everyone is looking at me .See I still have that fat mentality.I usually go with my sister and we just look around and walk out.So this time I'm going to be a brave little girl and do some damage like I alway when I go shopping. Oh my gosh, this post came at a perfect time, I just experienced this today. I went to the mall on my lunch hour because I have no pants that fit, and I won't even go into the section where the size I need are. What is wrong with me! The pants I am wearing are a 12 and they are getting to big, yet to go try something on and to actually make the purchase, well I just can't go through with it. Any advise out there?

Hi Claire, They say if you spend a small amount of time looking at yourself in the mirror every day that it helps your brain catch up with the changes your body has been through. Maybe if you have someone take pictures of you and keep one around in your purse, maybe to remind yourself of how you look. Also, since I am still losing, I don't want to spend a lot of money on clothing, so I shop at Goodwill stores....you'd be amazed at some of the name brand clothing you can get at these places in excellent condition...regular sizes and plus sizes all in one store so you don't have to stress yourself out if you're not accustomed to shopping in 'regular size stores.' Whatever the case, keep up the good work. You look fabulous! xo Amy

I talked about this with my psychologist during my insurance testing. And this was the one thing I took away from the appointment. "Try on one of your past favorite shirt and pants, or dress, etc. after surgery. Don't wear it anymore. (this will be hard for me) Try it on once a month. You'll notice how it starts looking different on you. It'll be too lose in the arms, in the legs, in the chest. Once this happens, tell yourself "Time for new favorites." I'm not with you ladies because I am still pre-op, but, I think this applies definitely!! I know when I gained weight I developed new favorites, and you owe it to yourself to find some new "Skinny" favorites. I'm proud of ya'll!!!! meegan

It actually gets depressing after a while though, doesn't it? I mean, it's one thing when your favorite article of clothing no longer fits, but it's something different when you find a NEW favorite, and that no longer fits either!!
