Curious Question for those who had RNY: Given the opportunity to do it again: would you still choose RNY over a Duodenal Switch? -Karen, Pre-Op RNY (surgery date next Tuesday, Sept 12th!!)

Thanks Marie, I guess I'm having the Pre-Op Doubts/confusion...am I doing the right thing?? etc. There are some people on this board SO outspoken against RNY, and I just happened to read them this week. So my anxiety blossomed 100 times!!! Thanks again, Marie.

Hi Karen, My doctor does not do the DS. However, I did do some research with it. I've met a few people who were really happy that they had it done. Then again, I've met several people who had chronic diahrea problems, and that made me reconsider. Good luck to you with whichever you decide! I've had the RNY 7/31/06 and have already lost 35lbs! I'm glad now that i had RNY instead of the lap band. I've seen people in my doctor office that had lap band and they had to come in every 6 weeks to get it refilled and they lost less weight than I have. I had mine on 4/3/06 and lost 81# so far plus I lost 45# before surgery on the south beach diet. My Dr. required me to go on it and follow it. I'm glad he did. Good Luck to you.

RNY ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did alot of online research and that is truly the best way. Lap bands are too temporary and there's no fear of dumping to keep you righteous, d switch is too complicated and way too risky!!!!!!!!!! I know about last minute fears - I had them too!!!!!! 4 wks out - 45lbs down & feeling great!!!!!!!!!!!! Rest your mind & keep a positive attitude. You will be happy with the results!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck

Thanks Darla, I appreciate your feedback, and YES, these last minute fears are amusing! I hope I don't run out with the IV in my arm! And congrats on the awesome weightloss!!! Hugss, -Karen

Your research is FLAWED there is nothing temporary with the lap band my dear! Furthermore my Surgeon has done several bandings on failed or stretched gastric bypass patients. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA KB
