plasic surgury
MY GF had it done 3 years ago and i'm going to need it in a couple of years. Seeing all the mess she had to go through the biggest problem is part the Inrs Co. the other is the Dr. The Inrs Co. if they approve you they will only pay the Dr. so much money for what they have to do. After everything is said and done the Dr. ends up doing hours of work for not even a 1/4 of the money. So good Luck
Dawn:
I am not sure where you live in relation to Albany NY.
I was 30 YO when I had Lap RNY 5'9'' 320#,lost 45# preop, then total 157# (pre wls/wls) at 5'9'' reached normal BMI of 24-25 at wt of 163#. I have never had kids, been obese since age 9, yo-yoed 100# 3x in my lif, so my skin was a mess but ot to the extent some peoples are. Insurance companies MAY cover a Panniculectomy (removal of apron of skin on front tummy (no muscle work) it is about $1K theypay surgeon..it is better than nothing, many fight to get this, some appeal 2-3x before they win. Medical necessity is easier to prove if you have documentation along the way of issues such as rashes, hygiene issues, sore that won't heal, back pain etc. Rarely they cover a Breast reduction/lift due to pain, even rarer a brachioplasty...
I had a Lower Body Lift (a tummy tuck w/ muscle tightening, a outer thigh lift and butt lift in one procedure and involves a scar/incision that goes 360 degrees around your torso, hidden under a thong bikini line), breas Augmentation only (*fill in lose skin or cut it off!) 18 months postop, then 2 yrs postop had inner thigh Liposuction. I had a FANTASTIC PS!!! Dr. Joshua King
www.albanyplasticsurgeons.com
He is an artist, compassionate and VERY familiar w/ post-bariatric body contouring. For meit was someting I desired to find inner peace and harmony w/ self/body. My insurance did NOT pay a penny. I had 4-5# skin removed w/ the LBL, of course no insurance co would pay for BA or Lipo either. I had no medical necessity, I didn't have a ton of skin, no back pain, no rashes, no hygeine issues, but to mysekf it was worth the ~ $15K total I paid (Surgeons feels and anesthesia and hospital stay).
When I had it done my costs looked like this (for me):
6/9/2004
surgeon fee: LBL $5,000
Augmentation: $3,500
Implants themselves flat fee $1,250
-$400 multisurgery discount
-10% cash payment ($810)
-$75 consult fee credited
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
$8,465
$2,890 Hospital fee for2 nights stay/
or and preop testing
$1,440 anesthesia fee
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
total: $12,795
11/11/2005
Inner thigh Lipo
Sugeon $1,500
Hospital (same day) $800
Anesthesia $442
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
total:$2,742
GRAND TOTAL:
$15,537
*I was fortunate to have good credit, I place the charges on my usual CC< then opened a new card that had free blaance transfers (no fees) and 0% interst for 12 months (Chase), I paid 1/2 balance in 12 months then again opened a different (Discover) card and balance transfered it free and had another 12 months of free interst! I paid it off in 2 yrs.Now the catchis you have to pay minimum eachmonth and can not use that card for any other purchases (cause the payment u send in goes tolowestinterst rate first, so until u paid the larger sum that $15 gas bill will accrue at the 20% or whatever hope that makes sense!) So I had a loan for 2 yrs w/o interst! Hey better than taking a homeowners or personal loan any day! Not everyone has this option I realize but it is what I was able to do. Best $15K i ever spent on self! Hey some buy huge house, some fancy cars, others fast motorcycles, some go on cruises, I had PS! I had never been one to spend moneyonself so I felt deserving!
Wait for at lest 1 yr postop and even 18 mo is better (wt to stabilize).
