Recliner Question

I will be having the lap RNY. Do I really need to be sleeping in a recliner when I get home? Has any one been fine in their own bed after the hospital stay?

The first nite home I slept in my recliner....after that the bed just felt to good. I propped some extra pillows in the bed and slept like a baby.

What if one does not own a recliner. Any one out there experience this and not having a recliner and how did you feel?

I could not use a bed for over a week. I had gas pain in my right shoulder that was killer. The recliner was actually nice and on those sleepless night I had my big screen HD tv right in front of me. I slept with my remote control, naturally! Good luck. Kenny

I was wondering the same thing, I do not own a recliner and was thinking of buying one for after surgery. I did have some gas pains on the first night home, but that was it. I was in my bed the next night and it was fine. On that first night I ended up sleeping on the couch propped with pillows. Lil

I had open RNY and made my hubby go buy me a recliner when I got home... lying down flat was NOT an option. I would think the lap procedure wouldn't bother so much as far as stretching stomach muscles since they're not being cut through? Good luck! Traci
