Mom's surgery is this friday Sept 1

Just posting for support for my mother. She is having her open RNY on Friday morning. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. She is 68 years old and can use all the prayers ya'll can send her way. I will have to get some pics of her for before and afters I will post them when I can. HUGS, Shannon

Hi Shannon, My Prayers are with you, your Mom, and all of your family. I went through the same thing in 1998 when my Mom had RNY Gastric Bypass surgery...and back then it wasn't nearly as common and/or perfected the way it is today. Well...we (me and my 2 sisters) were against it but she was headstrong...and she was FINE. In the end, i totally understand her wanting the surgery...and Sept 12th is my turn! Funny how life works that way. Anyway...again, well wishes, prayers, hugs to your Mom and family. Please keep me posted. I must say this though: 5:30am....eeeeeeep!!!! Too early! Thanks everyone!!! Tina, thanks also for asking about my Dad. I was going to post another thread about him, but I will post it here for now. That is another reason I am asking for many prayers for my mother, she has a lot on her mind right now plus her own surgery concerns We found out on Friday that my Dad's abdomen is full of cancer. It started in his pancreas then to the stomach and colin, it has metastisized, and they have given him 6-12 months to live. So I am asking at this time as well for prayers for him, to get through this as painless as possible and to also help us get through this. He told Mom not to postpone her surgery and the family told her the same as well as her Dr. She needs to be at a healthier state when things get bad. Thanks again everyone, HUGS Shannon

Shannon, I will keep BOTH parents in my thoughts and prayers as well as the whole family, I can understand about the prayers for your father as my father had cancer as well..... Please pass along my warm wishes for your Mother on Friday.... She will be starting a whole new life now. It is nice that you both can share this together... Shannon, I am so sorry about your Dad,I was truly hoping for better news. How unselfish of him to want your Mom to continue with her surgery.He sounds like a very sweet man.
