Hi LisaMarie I am rapidly approaching 52 in October. I am married for 13 years, and have one son who will be 11 in October. Didn't know it was possible to love one person so much and want to kill him at the same time.... lol. I am a guidance counselor in a NYC HS. I had my RNY on April 21, 2005. I have lost a total of 162 lbs (102 since surgery). My highest weight was 329. Another 3 lbs and I will have lost 1/2 of me. On June 30th I had a lower body lift and arm lift. It went pretty well at the beginning, other than needing transfusions for low blood counts, etc., and taking a little more time than expected to recover from anesthesia. Two weeks later, though, I had a complication related to I-Don't-Know-What -- had a telescoped bowel (intussusection) and internal hernia, requiring emergency midnight surgey. And two days after leaving the hospital my back incision opened up, which was a lucky thing, actually, as I may not have known that i had staph infection, resistant to penicillin drugs. What a mess. Add to that a flight down the stairs in the middle of the night, bady bruising my tailbone and other assorted spots all over my body. In the last few days I have actually been coming back to myself -- FINALLY!!!!! Just in time to return to work next Thursday! Some summer vacation!!!! Oh well, thankfully there is always next year. Hello NY!!! My name is Linda and I have been married to DH #2 for 11 years. He is the best and a keeper!! I have two grown sons who would make me very happy if they would get married and have children (in that order, please) so I could be a grandma!!! I had a VSG on August 7, 2006. I was supposed to have the DS, but my dr said for my safety, he only performed the first half of the DS and if I need the other half, he will do it in 9 to 12 months. I'm a native New Yorker; I love crafts; and dh and I love to travel. I also believe I am the oldest one here Linda

Hi everyone - My name is Deb, married to Jim for 5 years with the wonderful James at 17 months as a result. I did the RNY with Dr. Gorecki on July 6th - was down about 40 lbs last week. I teach 8th grade in Brooklyn - so to the man that offered a moody 15 year old - i'll trade you your moody 15 year old for my 60 moody 14 year olds! They are not easy at that age... I'm glad to see so many enthusiastic and nice people on this board and look forward to getting to know everyone better. Deb

CONGRATULATIONS Everyone who has had surgery! I'm a newbie to OH. I have been doing research on WLS - specifically RNY - Proximal for a little over a year. I finally decided to go ahead with it in May - and had a consultation with a "darling" of a WL surgeon, and one of the most experienced surgeons on the east coast (I'm so happy with him and his practice) . Well, I'm one of three sisters (we're each 7 years apart - how weird is that?), and I'm the eldest of the three at 25 yrs old and 5'3". I weighed 9.5 lbs, and 22 inches at birth, and was birthed naturally (poor mom, I would have asked for a Cessarian at month 8! ). I've been in NYC for 12 years (came when I was 13 yrs old from Dominican Republic). I went to High School in Connecticut, and went to College in Chicago. Came back "home - NYC", after graduation and currently work in downtown manhattan. I want to pursue an MBA in Mergers and Acquisitions - Project Management by midyear 2007. I'm amazed at the transformations I have seen here from people from all other the country. Most of us that have spent our entire lives heavy - end up being the most active people in terms of physical activity and energy - as a nice side effect of having the surgery, determination and newfound discipline. I remember reading someones profile - and she had her surgery at 325lbs - by the time she reached her personal goal - she had gone down to 120lbs, and was working as an aerobics instructor at a gym . I was COMPLETELY astounded - and motivated at the same time. I am still at the beginning of my journey, but feel I have tons of support from my OH community . I'm waiting to acquire a new PCP soon, and am still seeing my nut for 2 more months to meet my insurance requirements. I cannot wait till I'm approved - it'll be the HAPPIEST day of my life. Ok - well, that's me in a nutshell. Great idea LisaMarie.... It's nice reading peoples stories. \(^_^)/ susie

I love this! You're the best LisaMarie! My name is Amy and I had my surgery May 2nd 2006. I've lost 50 pounds since surgery and 30 pre op for a total of 80 so far. I feel like a new woman. I still have more to go, and my life has already changed for the better in so many ways, not the least of which is that I have tremendous energy, hope, and lust for life, which had all dissapeared under the burden of my extra weight and sense of futility for success. I am an almost 44 year old RN (my birthday's on Sept 1!) living in upstate NY, married with 2 lovely sons aged 13 and 9. I will be posting new pics, and hopefully updating my avatar (which got accidentally deleted) soon. Congrats to all you losers and good luck to all those who are getting ready. Amy C
