Dr. Garber/Dr. Holover patients

Hi. I have my first consult with Dr. Holover on 8/31. I tried to get an appointment with Dr. Garber but he doesn't take my insurance. I'm interested in getting the LapBand. I've been looking into WLS for the past year. Any advice as to what questions I should ask? Thank you. Patty

Hi Patty...Dr. Graber did my surgery on Halloween in '03. I've never heard of Dr. Holover...but I wish you the best. Some questions you might want to ask are: how long of a recovery time is there/how long will I be out of work?(if that applies to you). how many patients have you performed surgery on? what is your patients success rate? what type of follow up care am I going to need? what vitamins and such will I need to be taking before and after surgery? what will my limitations be? how many patients have you lost because of complications..I know..scary question..but one that needs to be answered so you know how he deals with emergencies. I am finishing up my last pre-op test (the endoscpy) then I will get my surgey date (for RYN) at my second consult with Dr. Garber. Good luck to you on your journey. Britt

Hi Patty, Dr. Garber is my surgeon and Dr. Holover is his partner. He also does all of the endoscopes (sp?) for their patients. He is very very nice. I found that most of my questions were answer before I asked them. Both of these doctors are very good at what they do, you are going to an excellent practice. Best of luck to you. Stacy

Hi Patty, One of the nice things about their practice is that they work with you based on your insurance coverage. You won't go wrong with Dr. Holover. I had Dr. Garber but Dr. Holover assisted with the surgery. No surgical complications and I was back to work in about 3 weeks (RNY). I live upstate but decided that if they would accept me, I would go with them because they are, in my humble opinion, two of the best in the business. LindaM 230/127/115 my goal

Hi Patty....You are one lucky girl. You have the best doctor. I had Holover do my surgery on April 17 of this year. I had lap band surgery. He did a fabulous job. I have no problems whats so ever. Holover is easy to talk to and is available 24/7. Prior to even meeting Holover I did so much research that I could have done the surgery myself....well not really....He is extremely knowledgeable and I trust any decision he makes for my health and well being. I also feel that when it comes to the fill Holover is a much better judge of how much saline to fill. Garber is nifty but Holover is the bomb....geez I sound like a school girl. But your faith and trust in Holover Patty I do not think you will be disappointed one bit.... Let me know ....keep in touch....hugs Susan
