Hey everyone! Thank you all again for everything everyone has done for me on here, it truly does mean a lot to me. (((HUGS))) This all has been one heck of a ride that is for sure! I am doing a lot better than I have been. I had the staples(clips as the surgeon calls them) taken out this morning and my tummy feels better and less itchy. He is going to take out the G tube this friday which I am looking forward to. This tube has over stayed his welcome and has to go. I lost some more weight but he and I expected that. Hopefully it will get up to a healther range in the next few weeks. Anyway, the surgeon advanced my diet to more heavier things like tuna fish w/mayo, mushy veggies, eggs(I guess you would say the stage 2 part of the diet in the beginning). I havent tried any of the above yet but I have eaten things like yogurt, cottage cheese, refried beans and they all seem to be going down w/out a problem. I havent woken up in the middle of the night gagging anymore, which is good! I dont have any pains expect for G-tube and surgery pains really, which is double good! I havent felt nauseous at all, which was the killer for me. I HATED the nausea so much, it was horrible! It does look like maybe my curse has been lifted but we wont know 100%(and I dont want to jinx anything****il I try some real foods in a couple of months most likely. We will see! The only thing I have to do differently is I have to get b12 and iron shots religiously every couple of weeks from now on. My pcp said supplements are not good enough for me b/c I have more intestine bypassed which will cause even more poor absorption of those nutrients. I already did the b12 for this week but I have to go back to see him to get the iron before he goes on vacation again. Oh well, I have to do what I have to do! Thanks(again) to everyone who sends me well wishes, really. Please email me at [email protected] to let me know how you guys are, ok? I miss hearing from a good bunch of you. Take care and feel good you guys!

Hi Tavia, It's great to see you posting here. I've been wondering how you are doing? It sounds like you are going well. I hope you recovery continues along the same path. It's wonderful that you aren't suffering from the nausea, I can't imagine how horrible that was. Take care, Mary

Tavia: Glad to hear all is moving along w/ you in the right direction for a change. AND that your nutritional status is being taken care of.... Iron, protein and B12 deficiencies can sap anyones energy!!! I hear the Injections of iron and/or iron infusions can really help many wlsers! On a side note...Read an interesting abstract in the Obesity Surgery Journal this past month on: on-going nausea, (that was NOT a result of a stricture), that DID NOT respod to usual anti-nausea meds.... just FYI (for you/your surgeon), *I hope you won't need it!* Obesity Surgery, (Aug 2006 issue) 16, 2006 pg 1017 Poster 104 abstract. Mirtazapine (Remeron) as a treatment for non-mechanical vomiting after Gastric Bypass. Basically 1-5% of pts develop uncontrolled nause/vomiting after surgery. Results patients given Remeron (Mirtazapine) 30mg at night (it is sedating) for 4 months and the nausea/vomiting disappeared. Mirtazapine is a SNRI (antidepressant) with noradrenergic and a specific serotinin blocker(at the 5HT3 receptors), leading to an antiemetic effect. Good morning Sunshine... glad to hear that you're doing better. Everything is crossed and the prayers continue for your continued good health. I know you'll feel a thousand times better once he takes that G-tube out. Make sure you continue with the vitamins and the iron and B12 shots. They're important. I love ya, Joanne
