support group in Orange County?

Hey Tina, I've never read about one on this board, but i remember hearing that there was one in goshen somewhere, i think it met at the galaria mall. It would be good if there was one closer to home, tommorrow I'm traveling to my surgeon in NYC and i will attend his support group at night. I'm sorry i couldn't be more helpful. I think one of the biggest problems is that there aren't a lot of surgeons in orange county who perform the RNY or the DS. There is a surgeon out in Port Jervis that performs the Lap Band, and i think one at Hopefully with the changes at Cornwall/St Lukes hosptial, there will be a surgeon in this area that can peform the RNY or DS and with that should come a support group. there is one in fishkill meets every sunday

Hi Tina. I'm a newbie here. in reguards to ur question, yes there is a support group that meets in Goshen. We will b meeting this coming monday the 21st from 7-8 at the Orange County mental health building behind Arden hill hospital. i just Had my Surgery on 8/16/06. I dont know if i'll b attending this support group but i'm sure gonna try. Have a nice weekend. Kathy L

Here is the scoop Tina! The group that meets in Goshen are patients of Dr Kwon and we are lap banders. We meet twice a month, however the group is open to Gastric bypass patients as well with just one glitch! Anyone that is not a patient of Dr Kwon and did not have their psyhc. evaluation done with Mauri Waldman (the group shrink) then you must pay a $25 fee to be part of the group, her rule and it stinks I know! The other group that meets in Fishkill is run by two qualified gastric bypass patients and it is free. We meet every Sunday evening at All Sport in Fishkill just north of rt 84 on rt 9. Kenny, Thanks, $25.00 is a lot per group meeting. I will consider Fishkill,my problem is when I go back to work I get up at 5:00 am on Mondays so I usually don't go out after dinner on Sunday. I do think I will need the group so I will consider it.Thanks again,Your doing terrific! Tina
