Hello, I am very skeptical about this whole insurance approval process. Is there anyone who falls into my category that has been approved by this insurance company so I can put my mind at ease? Thanks for your help. =-)

I didn't have the same oxford plan as you did, but i had oxford medicare advantage, and I was approved for surgery in 2 business days. My surgeons office told me that Oxford (in general) approves surgery in no time, that they were one of the easiest companies to get approval for surgery. Scott

I also have Oxford Liberty and just recently got my file together and it will be submitted to them for approval soon. I was also told by my surgeon's office that Oxford is generally pretty good about surgery approval as well. I hope that's the case for me, although I don't forsee any roadblocks.

Jamie, I noticed that your BMI is under 40..do you have any co morbities like diabetes or sleep apnea or hypertension? That might be grounds for denial. Also , some policies may have an exclusion to WLS, policies vary from employer to employer so first things first is to make sure your policy actually DOES NOT have an exclusion. Oxford has a pretty extensive write up on their website on requirements for pre certification for WLS also.
