Topic: Getting my iron levels up - does the patch work?

My iron is low and I'd like to bring the levels up.

Chewable multis with iron taste terrible to me, and it's important that I take my chewable every day, so I went the route of the non-iron version so I'll actually take it.

The Iron Plus patch doesn't seem to have any reviews yet.

Before I cave on Iron chewables: has anyone actually used the Iron Plus patch and had their iron levels go up to normal?   http://www.obesityhelp.com/profiles/product/iron-plus-topica l-patch-30-day-supply/

I recommend that you start using something like MyFitnessPal to track everything you put into your mouth. It'll be easier to troubleshoot what's going on if you know what's going in :)

Topic: RE: Vitamins

Its important to remember that in order to absorb D3, you need K2 with it. NOW makes a combo tablet that will help you better absorb the D3. I've been low vitamin D since my RNY 6 years ago and tried everything including prescription 50,000 IU 1x a week. I then switched to 5000mg 1x a day and still was low. It wasn't until I added the D3 combined with the K2 that I saw improvements in my numbers and my energy level.

Yeah, I don't love how processed it is.. It is nice to have a last resort option when I feel like I'm gonna go crazy though.

They make unflavored protein powder that you can mix with broth.

Halo Top Ice Cream.  Don't get me wrong, it's highly processed and hardly what I would consider "healthy", but it tastes really good, is low in calories and sugar and high in protein.  Some of the flavors (chocolate for instance) are 240 calories for an entire pint.

Topic: RE: Any tips for vegetarians???

I spoke with a nutritionist who was constantly trying to discourage me from being vegan (needless to say she was not hired by me and never will be).

Many of them will recommend using whey. If you are vegan or desire to be vegan short or long term whey is a definite don't because it's (cow) milk.

Vega is a great certified vegan shake so if your vegetarian (I know you said your not a vegetarian-I'm speaking in general) adding whey to it may not be an issue, but in my personal opinion vega gives a large amount of what most people would need - general diet, vegan, and vegetarian.

Thank you I will review the links. My greatest concern is docs and more who may try to discourage me from staying vegan in additionto being vegan with consumption restriction-if I get the sleeve.

Hi

I just sent this to another member....

More and more weight loss surgery members are asking about non meat alternatives.  Here is some research I did for you, I hope it helps.

I did a search for you and here are some other members inquiring about vegetarian and vegan.

http://www.obesityhelp.com/search/?q=vegetarian

I know there is a difference between vegetarian and vegan but thought you would find this interesting too.

To Be Vegan...or Not To Be Vegan

I am sending you some other information via PM (private message)
