Topic: I need to boost my iron!!

Help, I need to boost my iron quick, my ferritin is at 9 and transferrin at 434. I did not realize it was this dangerous until checking with others and of course my Dr. told me to take 324 mg. ferrous sulfate iron? What carbonyl iron and how many mg can I take to boost my iron- sundown naturals perfect iron is being discontinued from what I see online and vitaladys tender iron is on back order, is the Cypress Iron brand (Polysaccharide-150mg Elemental) good to take? Thanks!

Topic: RE: Restaurants good for staying on track?

I wanted to add that as someone in the soft food stage, I forgot my lunch the other day. I walked over to the Quiznos (sub sandwich shop) and asked for a scoop of tuna in a dish. She gave me two huge scoops and charged me $2. I could only eat a little of it of course, but it was perfect, just soft tuna and mayo.

Our team went out for Thai food the other day. I just skipped the rice and had red curry on it's own. That seemed to work just fine and I got a container of the rest to go. There was some pressure for me to eat the raw spring rolls but I'm not able to eat raw veggies just yet -- too bad since otherwise it'd be a pretty healthy choice, it's like raw lettuce, cabbage, carrot, sprouts in a thin rice wrapper.

Had a birthday dinner for a family member at Red Robin and looked up the menu in advance -- had the small cup of chili and some unsweetened iced tea.

I figure there's usually some workaround at whatever restaurant you end up at. If nothing on the menu looks right, you can talk to the waiter/waitress and see if they can modify something for you.

I would advise you to check out Dr. Garth Davis and his book Proteinaholic. He is a bariatric surgeon who found many of his bypass patients were coming back to him gaining weight. After much research he wrote this book and has become a vegan himself.

When I get a hankering for something sweet, I have a Power Crunch Protein Bar

It should be at least 70% cocoa and preferably organic. My favorite is Theo's but there are lots of good organic brands.

The Knockout Chocolate and Intense Vanilla in the Pro Series are much better than the Strawberry. I'm not sure why, but Strawberry seems to be a flavor that is hard to master when it comes to protein.

If she's 6 days post-op, it might be part of the post-op clear diet.

Do you like any of the Progresso Light soups? If so, in my pre-op education class the nutritionist said that if we can't stomach the low-sodium, low-fat broth, that we could take a chicken soup from the Progresso Light line and simply strain it. I would try that and maybe you'll have some luck getting it down.
