I don't know, but think they could be similar to a farro texture and you can do many things savory with that kind of texture? I also think of risotto with it, or using it like a much more coarse bulgar for vinaigrette type salads. There is an old cookbook called Silver Palate. A lot of times you can find it in the Half Price Books store. They have a recipe for Rice Salad that is so fantastic--flavor profile. I think you could likely sub out the steel cut oats (cooked) for the cooked rice and it would taste incredible.

For me taking protein supplements are not ok.. it would be best to take it from fresh foods and another natural way. like weight loss queen said Walnut is a good source of protein.
I am still pre-op for a few more days and I tried one of these. It made me feel so sick, nauseated and shaky for about an hour. I love the regular quest bars but the hero one was terrible! Whatever allulose is, I don't think it agrees with me!

Good for you!!! I applaud your willingness to make the change. Some women get very stuck in having a certain length of hair and when it thins (whether via surgery or life) won't change it.
I felt so awesome after changing my hair and the layers hid any thinning issues I had, plus I think I got it colored/highlighted so it added a bit of texture. I've kept the cut since then and it really accentuates my cheekbones and narrower neck. Plus, it was like a tribute to my new way of living/eating. Changes all over the place!
Look at some websites to see what you might like but also, if you really trust your stylist, see what they recommend. good luck!
Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
Sorry for the late reply.
Thank you soooooo very much. Maybe I should try a new haircut. Brilliant!! I should have thought about this as an option. I've changed my way of thinking, my choices and in turn, my body, I think I'll make an appointment tomorrow.
Again...
Thank you!
Hi Jennylynn353,
I had my surgery on May 24, 2017. I'm having the same problem with overeating. I try hard to use a food scale but I'm not always home when I eat. I was told that we would be eating about 2.0 ounces of food for about the first 3 months. Many people have increased it to 4.0 ounces afterwards. We should break up our meals to about 6 a day and then bring it down to 3 a day without snacks in at 3 months out. Currently I try to weigh out 2.5 to 3.0 ounces for each of my 3 meals but I can eat more than that. I do try to use a Bariatric timer try to make sure I divide my bites out for 30 mins. The important this is eating enough quality protein in small amounts to reach your protein goal. Also, if you're still worried about over eating or not being full quickly, I'd contact you surgeon to ensure you're still on the right track. : ) -bbrantner06
Hi everyone I just had surgery on June 22 and so far I've done well losing weight however I feel like I am able to eat more than what I should. For example today for lunch I ate 1 piece of toast with 1 egg. That just seems like a lot of food for this soon after surgery. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance
it sounds like you want to lose what you have gained? has the first issue been too many sweets, or too much processed i.e. pizza, etc? can you point to why the gain occurred..was it 35 lbs a year slowly, or quickly in year 2?
If you are eating high quality protein (of all kinds) then the minimum for men-not bariatric- is 56gr (per livestrong.com) but I know 70-80 gr per day is absolutely advised for LIFE per the bariatric nutritionist I talked with in discussion of RNY recently.
I know most protein is dense enough to keep me satiated longer, and putting protein powder into whatever else you eat-soup, shakes, in hot cereal, or a quality yogurt works, even with a 1/2 cup serving..ie if you like cream of wheat, or grits and add 1 scoop =7 -11 gr -protein powder to it, it all adds up.
but the body will not have issues without any 'specific number' of carbs..which tend to activate insulin response, so you get hungry faster/BG goes up. (one potato is = to 6 cubes of sugar in how the pancreas reacts to it. but protein won;t do that.

I'm researching quite a bit on all bariatric and am possibly leaning to an "endoscopic gastric sleeve procedure that sews a smaller stomach (no surgery, no stomach removed) so the post op for life diet is the same..getting protein first.
Hi I was wondering I am 5 years post op and am wondering what should my protein intake be per day in grams and what should my carbohydrate intake be per day in grams? Thanks for your help. I have regained 70 lbs over the past 2 years and I am trying to get back on track. Thanks again. God bless!
