I had RNY in 2000. The two areas I'm always low is Iron and Vitamin D. I've had to get prescription Vit D 100,000 IU every week for months because it got so low. I can now maintain it with over the counter about 10,000 IU 5 times a week.
I just had a sleeve done. They gave me a bunch of papers at the hospital but, no one ever REALLY spoke about what and how much I should be eating. What are the major guidlines for major long term weight loss??
Thanks guys! This has been the hardest few weeks of my life (and I have 5 kids!!)

I have not had health insurance for years. Hubby doesn't have access to it at work and we have not been able to afford it on our own. (Had Roux-N-Y in 2003). I am pretty sure I have severe iron deficiency anemia and probably a deficiency in B12. Yes, I have been taking supplements, but I've been feeling more tired and more weak especially lately. The good news is, as of Jan 1st, we will have health insurance, but will have to pay 50% out of pocket after deductible. I plan on heading to an urgent care clinic on Tuesday, but I did find a way to get some labs done tomorrow (using WalkInLab.com I don't need a doctor's order). I have to pay all of that out of pocket, but I ordered Iron with TIBC, Ferritin, and a CBC. Anything else I should look for?
Unless you give specific information about what you ate as a vegetarian this is a completely useless and misleading post.
I ate vegetables, alternative meat products, pasta, fruits, breads , all things recommended for a vegetarian diet.
I am in the exact same boat! Just had my gastric sleeve surgery so, needless to say, it's all about the protein now! I have tried multiple brands of shakes and powders and find them all gross and nausea-inducing, and can't understand why your only options are these sickly sweet flavors, with such a thick texture. I did find protein water, that comes in various fruity flavors, that are much more bearable, but the one I am drinking now tastes like robitussen and I am already getting sick of it...would you say the isopure unflavored is the best brand to get? Inspire has an unflavored option that seems to have decent reviews...https://shop.bariatriceating.com/Inspire-Protein-Pure.html
Thanks!

It depends. If you're eating out a lot (including the cafeteria at work) your options are quite limited unless you have access to vegan restaurants.
I was a vegan for a while and found it too stressful. I admire people maintaining this lifestyle though.
