I also have been adding a few things to the eggs to make it more interesting - hot sauces, mushrooms, a little bit of low fat cheese, salsa and turkey sausage sometimes. I have to really chew the turkey sausage. I also have made tortillaless burritos (ground turkey, taco seasoning or enchilada sauce, low fat refried beans, cheese, salsa and low fat cottage cheese. I even ate a Garden Burger with jalepeno cheese this morning. I am finding that I definitely want more spices on my food. Salsa has become my new friend lol. Best wishes!
I know you said you are tired of eggs, but have you thought about making a quiche? For me, quiche tastes nothing like normal eggs, and have a real savory flavor. I would stay away from the breads and rice and pasta, but give meat a try. Maybe a sausage, or a ground beef patty. a RNY friend of mine makes these little meatloafs in cupcake tins and freezes them. He takes them out, nukes them, and puts a spoonful of salsa or ricotta cheese on top. How are you preparing your eggs that make them too mundane for you? Have you tried using egg beaters and making an omelette with a ton of stuff in it? (more stuff than egg) The egg beaters allows you to just use half an egg worth, and you can cut up some ham, cheese, onion and tomato. Or some goat cheese and spinach leaves. I'm a huge omelette fanatic, and just recently found out I am allergic to egg protein. Found that if the ratio is more other stuff than egg I am ok and don't get the stomach cramps so my plan is to get really creative with the omelette.
As for lunch and dinner the meatloaf, or meat and cheese roll ups, crab salad in lettuce cups (I can give you the recipe if interested) and other protein rich options can be tweaked easily. Its hard but I watch a lot of food network. There is always some recipe I can tweak to be on program and make into small batches. Just focus on protein first, try all the meats to see what you can tolerate and what you can't, and get creative! You will be amazed at the number of ways you can change up the same old ingredients.
What is the diet the doctor put you on for your pre-op for 6 months?
If you're tired of repetition I think switching to protein shakes is the wrong move. What is your diet? I'm doubtful its choices are as limited as you suggest.
I have just started the pre bariatric diet for 6 months....and I am already tired of the repetitive food choices...The thought of eating supper at night makes me gag....so I was thinking about replaces.. lunch and supper with a protein shake...but my question for you is...what is the best one for pre surgery weightloss?
I simply LOVE the Unjury brand of protein. I'm almost 2 years post surgery, and I still order Unjury. There's no aftertaste; just deliciousness. And it's HIGH quality protein. My elderly mother also uses it now, and it's doing wonders for her. They have vanilla, strawberry sorbet (which I put into Sobe water), 2 kinds of chocolate, and chicken soup. The chicken soup tastes like instant chicken noodle soup--but there are no noodles in it. There is an aftertaste with that particular flavor, but I just drink a sip of the strawberry sorbet mixed in with my SOBE water. I can also tell you that I've lost a total of 121 pounds and nobody in the medical field believes I lost weight from the surgery because my skin looks so good. I can only attribute that to the protein. By the way, I'm 51 years old. Everyone thinks I'm only in my late 30's.
I am a little over 4 weeks out and doing pretty good on regular foods, though I haven't attempted things like rice, bread, steak, noodles, etc yet. I am so sick of eggs, tuna, salmon and cheese. I just started being able to tolerate ground turkey well - still not sure about ground beef. Borderline on chicken.
Anyway, I am desperate for some ideas for meals, especially breakfast! And especially meals that are easy and quick. I can't look at one more bowl of yogurt or cottage cheese. And ESPECIALLY protein shakes, I am so over those right now. Just thinking about that aftertaste makes me feel a little sick.
So, in conclusion, any high-protein, savory meal ideas are welcome!! Thanks in advance!!

HI Gang,
I got a GOOD problem. I need lunch and dinner ideas /mechanisms to withstand 100 + degree heat.
I got a trainer skater position for an qualifying synchro team! The problems are: I will be skating at my "home rink" from 11-1 during the day. The home rink does not allow us to bring outside food in. Their food is icky fried fast food. So I will be leaving lunch in my car.
Then I hop in the car and drive to richmond to be there for skating practice.
I DONT want to fall into a "protein bar" habit just because it is hot out. I dont want to get into a fast food habit either.
Ideally, do you think an icechest/cheapy thermo lunch bag if loaded with ice/freezer packs can keep protein shakes, hard boiled eggs, chicken breast, tuna salad, veggies and hummus reasonably cold for 6-7 hours?
I dont want to food poison myself.
Can those premade shakes (e.g. EAS/atkins) withstand the heat of a hot car? Not day after day, just for 7 hours or so.
Thanks for helping me out with this weird problem.

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
I am really trying hard to focus on protein. The evenings are the toughest. If I don't keep myself busy I just sit and think of food. I find myself snacking on Skinny Cow bars instead of grabbing veggies or a protein option.
