Topic: RE: Drinking: No, Not THAT Kind of Drinking

I think it is a good idea to ween yourself off the caffeine before surgery,  you may not be able to tolarate it after surgery to cut down on the headaches and withdrawal .  I had a leak after surgery and got bad headaches for over a week cause I could not drink caffeine.  I know at first I was lucky to ge****er in.....  You will know what u can tolerate after surgery.  I think it was 4 years before I drank any soda or caffeine....  Just take sips of stuff and see if it makes u feel funny or sick at all before u drink a lot of it!

Topic: RE: Why no salads for three months?!?!?!?

Salads are harder on you system right out of surgery......  You mostly stay on a softer diet regimen until u heal up some, cause you do t want to u do what the doctor has done or irritate it.   When u do start eating salad stuff just eat little bites, see how u tolerate it!   There are still a lot of things I can not eat ten years out!

Topic: RE: Coffee

It has to do with the person, if u can tolerate it or not!  I can't eat a lot of things, yet tolerate coffee just fine...... You have to find things that work well for you.... You will learn what makes you feel sick and sometimes you pay for it cause you just want to try it to see if u can now tolerate it.........  It also has to do with the medical issues people have, such as ulcers and stuff.  Starbucks I love the no fat chocolate mint frapacinno.......  Since I can't eat ice cream!

Topic: RE: 1 year and 8 months Post Op

I am over 10 years out and just eat around a 1/2 cup to a cup depending on what I eat.....  My first year I would eat just a few bites at a time........  Try just eating a few bites every few hours and not try to make yourself to full.

There are a lot of things I can no longer eat!  You just have to find things that you an tolerate.  I am over 10 years out!  I eat a lot of cheese, pizza, quesadas,  yogurt, and rice.  Vegetables I just eat plain with no added stuff.  I can not tolerate dairy, but can have alittle half and half in my coffee.  I also stop eating the minute I feel alittle full.  I eat little stuff all day long to help keep my system regular..

Rather than spending money on an "official weigh in" why not ask a family member, friend, neighbor come to your house on a predetermined basis and step on the scale in front of them.  They can be your cheerleading team and doesn't cost anything.

Topic: 8 yrs post op- alof of stomach problems

10 months ago I started having constant diarrhoea no matter what I ate! For gastro doctors later and I was diagnosed w ulcerative colitis and then it was confirmed I did not have this. My mom is convinced it's all diet, meaning that I'm now lactose intolerant, possibly gluten intolerant and that both coffee and wine are also causing this. She's probably right but I'm wondering if anyone else several years post op suddenly has developed food sensitivities.help! I can't live this way.thank you!
