Pica is a disorder where people feel the urge to eat items of little or no nutritional value, such as soil, chalk, sand, or glass. This disorder generally occurs amongst children and people who have developmental issues.
Pagophagia is a form of pica—it’s a disorder where people have the constant urge to consume ice, or iced drinks. But, why is eating ice bad for you? Chomping on a piece of ice may appear to be a seeminglyharmless habit, but it can actually be detrimental to your teeth.

craving ice can be the sign of dangerously low iron level. I found this out from experience and ended up having a blood transfusion and two rounds of IV iron.

You’ve probably heard something about “probiotics” in the news or at the grocery store.
Probiotics are “friendly” bacteria. They help your digestive system work efficiently — both to digest and absorb nutrients and to remove toxins.
Probiotic supplements can literally contain billions of friendly bacteria in a single dose.
Two of the most popular strains of friendly bacteria are “Lactobacillus acidophilus” and “Lactobacillus bifidus.” Some supplements mix together a variety of different strains of these good bacteria.

Drink as much as you can - water and other calorie free drinks. The first 3-4 days are the worst and then it'll get better.

I've just started my pre-op diet this week and I am so hungry a couple of times a day that I am nauseous and have a horrible, almost debilitating, headache. I'm intaking every 3 hours with an OptiFast protein item and am filling in twice a day with a serving of cucumber, celery, or sugar free jello. How long will this sick feeling last?
I love the Oh Yeah bars in the chocolate mint flavor. Taste like a girl scout cookie!
Premier is my favorite and it's the least expensive here as well!
I just started a 3 week pre-op diet as well. I cook for my 5 year old granddaughter and it isn't easy! I have a picture of myself on my fridge and my mantra is "Nothing tastes as good as being thin will feel". I'm having trouble with headaches while I'm trying to adjust to this diet so by the time I get home from work I feel horrible. I spent all day Sunday cooking meals that can be stored and heated up for the others in my house. Make me only suffer through the cooking one day and helps me get through to bedtime when I get home. Good luck!!
