I had Gastric Bypass on 4/14/15. I weighed 363 when I started seeing the surgeon and 330 the day of surgery. 4 months later I am 228. I've very confused on what my calorie intake should be per day. The dietitian at my surgeons office will not return calls or emails. Basically what I am doing right now is giving myself 1000 calories per day. 4 meals per day with an occasional snack. Then I exercise. I burn between 800 and 1000 cal walking over 5 miles per day. I then eat about 500 of those calories. So at the end of the day after exercise I eat between 1200 and 1500 calories but have had days where I burned even more calories and have had as much as 1800. I've never gained any weight back. I think my weight loss is way above average but I don't want to over eat.
I am new to this forum...previously I had a LapBand, which needed to be removed after 20 months due to excessive reflux issues. I lost nearly 100 pounds...and have regained some of the weight to the point of choosing to have the RNY procedure to improve my health. Both my Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension have returned.
I have done all of the prep work necessary, and am scheduled to meet with the surgeon next week.
Post band, I did experience some thinning of my hair. Most difficult for me was the almost total loss of my eyelashes. I am a poster child for compliance, got my fluids and protein, and vitamins daily. I even have taken Biotin, which I am unsure if that even helped.
Has anyone else ever lost their eyelashes post op? What has helped with minimizing hair loss post op? And for me, eyelashes post op?
Any and all insights and information will be appreciated!
it is not dumping... but something is not right...

By low sugar do you mean low carb? Most people on these boards avoids high refined carbs like pasta, or a lot of sugar found in sweets, cakes n such. Carbs are usually the complex type that is eaten & even then it can't be too high.
Your nutritionist/Dr. should give you some answers. My plan doesn't have me counting carbs but I generally try to keep it under 50 while in weight loss mode. The numbers vary from person to person. Try posting on the main boards for more replies.

contact your surgeon it sounds like a stricture and those are bad news better safe than sorry
i think your going to have to learn to eat seperatly from your boy friend. esspecially when your on the pre-op liquid phase he's still going to need real food. ive also learned with my hubby personally that i cook meat and veggies for my meal and cook him some rice also he loves rice hes hispanic so they have rice at every dinner. i just chose not to eat the rice. dont care for it much any way unless its in sushi. my husband is also following a similar diet to me but he is doing slim fast. hes lost some weight on it. but yeah after the operation your going to have to measure your food and protein and carbs if you want to be sucessfull get into the habit now and youll do fine
Hi I need help, I'm 4weeks post op lap band, I'm hungry every 3-4hrsany tips on what's a good meal plan? I Don't know how to tell if I'm full, anything helps. :(
Question .... I had RNY surgery 2 months ago and had been doing fine till about 2 weeks ago. I ate grilled chicken for lunch and got very sick after. I didn't know if it was "dumping" or not... It was probably 1/4 of a chicken breast, not too much. Anyway, last week, I ate too much and it came back up, which is fine, I mean, I did that one to myself. So, to my question, the last 2 days, I have eaten what I should be eating (no carbs / sugars) and I've gotten sick around 10 minutes after I've eaten. I, again, am not eating too much. Is this normal while my body is trying to adjust? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Where can I find and buy PB2. Is it expensive? I am trying so hard to enjoy my protein shakes but cannot stand the taste of the whey protein powder.
