I am going to start the Ketogenic diet soon. Any suggestions or advice to get started?

Topic: Vegetarian and Cannot Tolerate Whey Protein: HELP!

I am 11 weeks post-sleeve. Lifelong lacto-ovo vegetarian (who gags on cows milk and the taste/smell of eggs; as ingredients, though, I consume them). I've been on 40mg omeprazole (for reflux) since well before my VSG. Initially, I thought all my digestive issues were due to reflux (belching 24/7, bloating, nausea) and feared I'd need a revision to bypass. Now, I'm thinking that at least part of my issues are from all the whey protein I've been trying to consume, which leave me unable to reach my fluid and protein goals.

Yesterday, I went whey-free and found I don't bloat nearly as badly. HOWEVER - plant-based proteins have so many more carbs! I'm not sure how to reach the 80g protein leven my doctor suggests while keeping my carbs low enough to stay in ketosis.

How many grams of proteins, carbs and fats are you all eating daily? What helps you strike the right balance if whey protein isolates are not an option? I see my nutritionist in 2 weeks but, I'd love some input from anyone else who has gone through this!

Topic: RE: Vegetarian, plant based or Vegan after wls...discuss here

I'm struggling! I am 11 weeks post-sleeve. Lifelong lacto-ovo vegetarian (who dislikes cows milk and the taste/smell of eggs; as ingredients, though, I consume them). I've been on 40mg omeprazole (for reflux) since well before my VSG. Now, I'm thinking that at least part of my issues are from all the whey protein I've been trying to consume, which leave me unable to reach my fluid and protein goals.

All that said, I'm starting my first whey-free day today and am not at all certain I'll be able to reach the 80g protein my doctor suggests while keeping my carbs low enough to stay in ketosis. When trying to create my day's food plan, I can't seem to come up with vegetarian combinations that balance it all.

How many grams of proteins, carbs and fats are you all eating daily? What helps you strike the right balance if whey protein isolates are not an option?

As I've said before, the surgery groups are pretty active. Go to the group for the surgery you had and ask questions.

There doesn't seem to be an active group. I wish there was one as I believe I'll be struggling with regain from here on out.

Topic: RE: Easy Lunches to Pack!

I cannot reheat at work nor do I have access to a fridge - my lunch has to be in my lunch box with a cooler pack. So most days, I do about 1.5 cups of mixed green salad, 2 tablespoons of dressing and four ounces of chicken (usually those Perdue strips). I also pack a morning snack (carton of yogurt) and an afternoon snack (2 ounces of cheddar or other hard cheese).

You could put your chicken salad on the greens.

Keep on losing!
