Why no protein powder?  I don't do whey at all and I use egg and beef protein powder.  Those are not bad options, either.

Also, depending on how far you are post-op, you absolutely should be able to get all your protein from diet.  I would definitely measure and track.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

The 30 grams at a time thing is a myth. So at least you don't need to worry about that :)

One thing that has saved me so far is getting wonton soup broth and mixing it with the organic broth with protein. Then I add the Isopure zero carb powder. It is like you can have Chinese food. It's probably terrible in sodium, but I needed to brake the sweet. It made me nauseous.

Google SIBO, candida, and FODMAP. . Sugar feed bacteria and candida. Foods Ihigh in FODMAP feed bacteria and candida.

Once the bacteria colonize your gut it is close to impossible to get rid of them.

I know I have SIBO and IBS-C.  IBS with constipation. Fiber makes my IBS and constipation worse. Low FODMAP diet, low fiber diet makes my live and my live a much more happy person.

If I getting of plan - and eat things that makes my condition flares up - it may take up to a week of proper eating to quiet the gut and the the inflammation in the gut.

Topic: Examples of 100 g protein

I just had my six month check in and my doctor said my protein numbers were a little low and to up my intake to 100 g a day.

I'm told that the body can only absorb about 30 g in one meal so I'm left wondering how to get in 100 g in a day. I don't want to rely so heavily on whey protein and keep to whole foods if possible - other than my morning smoothie which is about 30 g.

Would appreciate any posts of examples of daily meal plans for those who also need this much protein.

Thank you!!

Lisa

Your body needs things that it cannot make itself. It cannot make vitamins -- that was the original definition of vitamins, before it got more complicated. You need a small amount of dietary fat each day, that your body can't get any other way. We need to get calcium from food or supplements, or our body will take it from our bones to support more important uses.

Protein is made up of amino acids, and there are essential amino acids that must be eaten. If you don't, your body will break down your muscles to get those amino acids. Once it has used skeletal muscles, it will start using heart muscle. Not a good thing.

Carbohydrates are nothing but energy. We need zero carbs, because we have lots of energy stored in fat. That's what body fat is for.

Topic: RE: Sugar

I am only 6 months out but I noticed the more sugar I have the worse I get bloated or have horrible gas. I chocolate candy or some I can have 4 small chocolates and I'm in horrible pain and have to go to the bathroom for hours!!!! I try to stay away. I have 2 splendas in a large cup of tea and have 2 a day at work or low sugar hot chocolate. I usually add protien powder to it cause less stomach pain. I have a problem with going #2 myself. My DR said its ok to go once or twice a week, I go more if I eat food I'm not supposed to eat. If you continue to have pain go and see a Dr for a check up to make sure everything is ok. Good luck.

Oh, sometimes I skip a day or 2 without protein powder if I have been constipated for too many days and my stomach hurts.

For food delivered pro-biotics, I can tell right away from the odor and consistency in my stool.  My energy level also increases.  The beverage I'm talking about is by Bragg (they also do organic apple-cider vinegar with live mother).  You can get them at Whole Foods, I know.

You know everyone is different. There are a lot of people that have WLS that white sugar will make them hurt.

Here is what I'd recommend. Do an elimination diet. Start with nothing but pure protein for a few days. See if the "issues" go away.

As for fiber/no fiber/enema's etc.

I would HIGHLY recommend finding a way to get of long term antibiotics. I know it was a "thing" 10 years ago-but it's not wise. I eat a lot of fiber foods- so I take Magnesium oxide everyday at night. Sometimes I add in a stool softener. I tried Miralax...and I found the magensium worked better for me. I take 400 MG at bed time.
