A bunch of meat. 15 ounces or more.
I eat by the clock. 8, 11, 2, 5, 8. Three or four ounces per meal wil do it.
A lot of people continue with protein shakes for breakfast. Most for the first year, some do it indefinitely.

Maybe non dairy protein shakes are worth trying. Vega protein is a pea based protein powder. I've heard a number of people who become lactose intolerant post op.
im almost 4 months post op rny and still use 1 protein shake a day. Depending on the type of dense protein, I can eat 2 -3 oz at a time. Pork, and certain steaks are the only types where I can get 3 oz consistently. You are still early days. I'd focus on just getting a few more bites of protein you can tolerate per day, but I would cut other things out to keep your overall calories down.
Also, check out the vsg and rny daily menu threads. It will give you a good idea of what people here eat every day.
good luck!

I am just wondering if after surgery anyone has experienced issues with food that agreed with them before. I had surgery on the 9th of December the sleeve and since then I am having issues with yogurt and milk. I tried lactose free yoghurt this week and no issue. Also how do you get enough protein I am only eating 400 to 650 calories daily and usually get 40 to 50 grams, but not hungry to add more food. I cannot do protein shakes at this time as my stomach flips and flops. I need suggestions I have gone on Pinterest and printed off lots of protein recipes and will start trying this.
I am so sorry to hear all you have been through. Come on over to the Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum (RNY) and we can help and support you. Check out the daily eating thread for meal ideas. I also have a list on steps about getting back to the basics I will send you.
Hope to see you there

I'll try to keep this short, I was 350 when I got out of the nursing home I have been stuck in a bad at for two years. Before that I was under 180 for 10 years after RNY Bypass.
- I had malabsorbtion before and went from 350 to looking like a skeleton till I got my weight back up to 160-180. Due to briddle bones I shattered like Humpty Dumpty in a car accident.
- Horrible diet/food in Nursing home, couldn't eat half the food they feed me so I lived on Atkins Bars, and a high carb trail mix with granola and Chocolate peanuts so between laying in bed on my back and eating that stuff with my Dt. Coke I had walmart deliver non perishable snacks (no chips etc). Gained 170lbs so once I started PT I finally got to a point where I could stand just enough to move from wheel chair to bed/cammode so I got to come to home care in September.
- Since sept I have been eating like miss Piggy with deserts every night and I lost 25lbs some how currently I need to loose wt faster so that I can walk again. So... time to put away all the over-the-top home goodies I missed in the Hospital and have been over indulging in.
I think I am going to just do a 30 day Atkins type carb/sugar cleanse to start with, I grave sweets after every meal, any good recipe links to help keep it interesting? Sugar Alcohol makes me ravenously hungry so I look forward to some fruits after my 30 days.
I malabsorb protein, so I also have to get in at least 100 grams a day. I hate to say this, but I still have to have a protein shake every day. It's just really hard for me to get all that through food. I guess if I ate meat all the time I could, but I'd get tired of that really quickly.
6 year out DS vet here.
For me, bread/wheat-based foods make me bloat and have killer gas. If I can minimize those things, gas/bloating etc improve immeasurably.
I seem to be able to eat sugar if I want to. However, I tend to eat sugar only where it seems essential to the food. For example, I am perfectly happy with equal and half and half in my coffee, and drinking Diet Pepsi, but if I am going to eat chocolate, I would always go for the full sugar variety.
I must say Equal (the blue stuff) is pretty good in iced tea, on fruit etc... but baking requires sugar.
My top recommendation at this point, is to do a bit of an "elimination diet"... that is how I discovered it was the wheat that was killing me (belly was bloated to twice its size). So for example - day 1 eat just proteins like cheese and meat... day 2 add veggies, day 3 add fruit, day 5 add rice etc etc etc...
A few years ago I was here asking for bloating advice and now my tummy is so happy.
I have been a very happy air fryer owner since the first of Nov. 2016. I love my air fryer!

I've never tried it, but after seeing your question I found this review on YouTube, and now I'm very interested in trying it myself:
I was STARVING the first 5 weeks I was on the liquid and pureed diet. As soon as I was able to progress to soft foods it was insta-full! So that was a very nice feeling for me. My taste in food has changed very little. Desserts still look good, but most sugar makes me immediately nauseous. That's a plus. Lol. I wish I liked zucchini and squash, but I still hate em.? Coffee gives my tummy an ache, and I think that's the only difference I notice. To be honest I haven't tried more than a bite or two of any particular carb, just because it takes all my effort to get in my protein and veggies I don't have time to waste room on carbs, so I haven't even bothered to include them in my diet. If I don't think about them I don't miss them. If I miss them I take one bite. I'm sorry, I think I rambled and didn't really answer ur question at all.
