Juice???
I'm very confused on the juice issue. I'm about a week and a half post-op so still doing mostly liquids. Some people have told me no just what so ever and then others will tell me it's ok if the juice is SF and you mix it 50/50 with water. I would like to hear others thoughts on it and what you were told.
Thank You,
Kelly Harris
Hi Kelly:
I'm a week post-op and have been drinking Diet V8 Splash -Tropical Blend or Ocean Spray Cran-Grape, both which has less than 10 grams of sugar and are sweetened with Splenda. Sometimes I find the Cran-Grape a little too sweet and I water it down. I have also tried 1/2 cup of OJ watered down, so as to keep the sugars under 12 and I've been okay. No dumping. Tropicana also makes a low sugar OJ, which you might want to try. Just remember, everyone is different!
I wish you continued success!!
A small amount of juice diluted should be fine. I believe the theory behind "absolutely no juice" is to get you out of the habit of consuming anything that has calories except for liquid protein supplement and possibly skim milk. Crystal Light should quench your desire for juice.

I had the very same concern... It was confusing because of the sugars in it... they seem way to high for us...HOWEVER, I just proposed this to my nurse at my surgeons office. She has also had the surgery. She said, initially do the 50/50 thing and eventually decrease the H2o to make it straight juice. She said she drinks 16oz of OJ (non diluted) every morning.... Also the surgeion added that if I have to go back on a iron supplement he either wants me to take it with a vit C tab or some OJ ( to help it absorb better. Finally, in the hospital, one of the options on the clear liq. diet was a 50/50 apple juice. I am assuming it will be okay... some frown on it because of all the carbs.
