Found this weight loss %age calculator that helps see weight loss in a different perspective, thought I'd share: https://www.fitwatch.com/calculator/weight-loss-percentage/

So I'm tracking my current %age of my goal lost. 100% = 142 lbs to lose. Currently I have lost 43 lbs so that is 43/142 = 30% of my goal - YAY ME!

Hi Megan!

I'm 12 years post op, RNY gastric bypass and I'm currently eating around 1600-2000 calories per day. I usually eat 4-5 times a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and 2 small protein snacks in between. Sometimes that varies based on the day. I think it all depends on YOU and your body type, activity level, and preference. As a former overeater, I really had to get my mindset ready for WLS. I used to eat because I was bored, and used eating as a reward or to compensate for a bad day. It was really difficult for me to find other rewards because I am a foodie at heart. But once you set your goals and realize it's a lifelong HEALTH commitment, it will become easier to keep going. There are a lot of scary stories out there, but most of the scary stories I've heard personally come from patients who did not comply with their surgeon's instructions. There are risks for anyone though, but most often benefits outweigh the risks. I think if you consult with a dietitian a few times prior to surgery, they can be a GREAT help. Mine was fantastic, and helped me understand how to get all of my nutrients and a good balance for my activity level. My dietitian was my best resource, and still is many years after surgery. I have regained some weight during struggles with depression (not WLS related) but will always have this awesome tool and support to get back to goal weight. Good luck with everything!

Amanda

Thank you so very much!

You are an inspiration and valuable resource. I really appreciate your reply and you have answered so many of my questions.

I spoke with my pre-op assigned Nutritionist today and she is amazing. I also received from her the detox diet plan I am to follow for the next 2 weeks as I must lose weight to qualify at my pre-op in a few weeks. The detox plan is intimidating but very informative.

I also am a foodie at heart. I know this life change will be a struggle but I am up for the challenge and hoping it becomes routine for me. My overeating and horrendous food choices got me to where I am today and the only way to fix me is to change.

Congratulations on all your hard work and success. You rock Amanda!

Thank you for the great and helpful thread here! What about some supplements and vitamins? Which do you think it is important to take? I like those I get from Canadian Pharmacy Online, for example. Maybe you will find something for you there too, have a look :)
