I plan to always take vitamins and supplements. My surgery center has that as a lifelong commitment for having vsg surgery.

I'm only 9 months out, but I was on a vitamin regimen before surgery. I had severely low Vit. D. and low B12, so have taken those supplements, plus a multi and calcium for years before surgery. Also, took a probiotic and glucosamine pre-surgery as well.

My post-op routine wasn't much different. At the beginning I took the multi twice a day, but after my 3 month appointment, I was told to stop because some of my levels were getting too high.

I figure I would have been stuck with this anyone even without surgery due to my own body's chemistry, so I just buy the big bottles at Costco and fill my little daily pill thingy every Saturday!

Keep on losing!

What I've been doing is taking a multi-vitamin, go about my day and when I log all my food, at the end of the day I see what vitamins (if any) that I fall short of 100% RDA, and take the supplement if needed, I particularly watch Calcium and Vit. D.

I am almost 10 years out and have been told that it should be for life. They are now finding out that patients are having all sorts of issues years down the road because they did not take their vitamins/supplements.
