Can I start my pre-op diet now?
I know this sounds weird to want to do, but the hospital sent me the pre-op diet requirements to do for 2 weeks before surgery. Its not as restrictive as others I have read about, and it seems pretty doable. I'd love to start a little early, or at least replace one or two meals a day with the protein drinks. Wouldn't that be even better for my liver than just the two weeks? Or is it better for me to wait till I am two weeks out to start it? I just have to wait til June and I don't want to waste that time.
I started replacing two meals a day with protein shakes about 2.5 months before surgery. It was fine for me. I wasn't super strict about it - it was mainly "I'll have shakes for all the meals I eat alone." I felt like it prepared me, mentally, for what I was getting into.
