Chia Seeds

Does anybody know if it is alright to use chia seeds dry? My package said to soak them into a gel and put into foods. But I wondered if we (specifically RNY bypass patients) will get the healthy benefits if we sprinkle dry ones into our foods (I liked some sprinkled over my salad the other day.) Those things are tiny so I doubt if they are broken while chewing, so I wondered if they MUST be soaked, or if dry would still give the same nutrition.

I use chia seeds in my yogurt or in my veggie shakes. I don't soak them b4 hand, the benefits I think should be the same. It'll change into a gel in my stomach anyway.

Thank you for the reply and the information. I believe I will throw some in some salad. Maybe in some yogurt, protein shake, oatmeal and other stuff too. The fiber and other nutrients in those tiny seeds are AMAZING. Looks like a good way to pack extra nutrients in without having to go through chef school to make a palatable dish. Especially since most of the stuff chefs make are full of all those foods that are too rough for RNY pouches anyway.

I put them in my protein shake with 1/2 tsp cinnamon , they mainly sink to the bottom then I just finish them off with a spoon 1TbS is 5 gram of fibre which is recommended and has benefits over eating snacks

, well that's what MyNetDiary App says anyway , great app to download
