Absorption of Lactobacillus rhamnosus, a probiotic

My apologies if this is discussed elsewhere--I can't find a search feature for this forum.

My question is, can we absorb probiotics, particularly L. rhamnosus, after RNY? I've searched the Web and can't find anything about where probiotics are absorbed. I'd like to take them, but if I've lost the portion of my intestine that absorbs them, I won't bother. Anyone know this? Thanks in advance.

I had a VSG - so take it with a grain of salt...but I asked my surgeon this exact question and he said yes, because they are absorbed through the stomach AND intestinal tract (large and small.)  He thought probiotic supplements were a smart idea once I get a bit further along.

Thanks so much! I hardly expected an answer. I'll go ahead and take them.

I bought Flora brand Udo's Choice with Lactobacillus casei, L. rhamnosus, L. acidopholous, and L. plantarum; Bifidobacterium bifidum, and B. breve. No idea what these do except the L. rhamnosus, which has been shown to improve mood in rats. I'm not a rat, but it might work on me. My mood definitely needs improvement!
