HELP!!!!!!
Hi, I'm 11 yrs out and I was doing really good until I stopped smoking July 2014 (6months) ago. I have gained about 25lbs. I am going to a dr. This Friday to begin ph entering and b-12 injections. I am doing everything I know to do, exercise, water, water, and more water. I average about 2-2.5 cups of solid food in a full day. Nothing but meat, cheese, eggs, peanut butter, salads and yogurt.. Nothing to drink but coffee in the morning and water throughout the day. I do have a limited amount of sugar (in my coffee) only.. Nothing else. Not even one bite of bread.. Can someone please give me some insight on whether this drug will help to kick start my weight loss again? Thanks so much for your help. Blessed above and beyond! Crystal
Congrats on ditching the cigarettes!!
B12 may give you some energy (its a required vit for RNYers so if you have not been taking it you may be deficient, have you had your labs checked (should be annually, at least) I'd be sure to get those done. Chat with your PCP or surgeon first... not a groupon type deal on weight loss & B12 shots.
I'd also suggest logging your food & exercise in one of those free trackers like fitday or sparkpeople or my fitness pal for a week or 2. I think sometimes it's easier to see any issue when the #'s are in B&W in front of you. Bring those with you to a Dr. appointment.
What, exactly, are you eating each day?

What do your salads consist of? I'm not seeing any protein here and salads can be pretty caloric depending on how you're making them.

Dressings can be very high in calories and, if you get low-cal versions, they can be really high in other crap. And there's definitely not a lot of protein going on here.
I recommend that you start logging everything you eat with something like MyFitnessPal and work on getting 60-80 grams of protein a day with solid foods. Definitely try to see a nutritionist at your surgeon's office, or a dietician familiar with WLS post-ops.
