New Poster, 2 yrs post op VSGer with diet/nutrition questions
I had my surgery in 2012 and I am still struggling to lose the last 25 lbs or so and i am getting very conflicting information from my doctor to the point where i do not want to consult with them anymore because it is becoming confusing and frustrating.
one of the biggest issues i am having is trying to figure out when to eat and how many calories i should have.
my doctor made it seem like i should NEVER eat over 1200 cals but based on my height and weight and the fact that i stopped losing weight last year i think that he might be wrong. another issue i'm am having is feeling sick (headaches, dizziness. fatigue ) while working out if i do not have a protein/carb snack 1hr before i exercise. by snack i mean a few apple slices with almond butter, a KIND bar, or just a 11oz protein shake. i mentioned to my doctor i have a snack and he told me not too because i am only burning off what i ate and that i should learn to work through the sick feeling. but to be honest i can't and do not want to risk fainting and seriously hurting myself. i do drink a lot of water before, during and after the workout, but i need that snack. my weight/measurements haven't changed at all whether or not i have the snack. if anything the only problem i have is the inability to have a decent work out.
can someone share some tips/menu break downs that have worked for them?
I exercise about 13 hours a week and I stick to 3 meals a day with no snacks most of the time. My surgeon's plan is big on 3 meals a day, so I try my best. On days I have my longest workouts, I have my first meal of the day (always a protein shake) before I workout, but I don't add extra meals - I still just eat three meals a day.
