Okay, so I'm really worried after listening to all the people who have had surgery and can't seem to get the 70 grams of protein in.  Any suggestions for help?  I'm having surgery tomorrow (wow is it that soon) and want to make sure that I get my protein and water in....

My advice? Just get them in.  Try and try new samples until you find proteins (powder, food, etc) that you can eat.  There are so much different protein powders, RTD, combinations, that I cringe when I hear when people say that they do not like them, but they only tried 2-5 samples.
The samples can be ordered (yes you have to pay for it) and the price is much less than one co-payment of a hospital visit.  (because if you do not eat - that is where you will end up eventually).
So, try until you find something what you can drink.  Liking or not liking is not that important at the beginning - at least it should not be.  Just get the water and protein in and hopefully slowly you can find things that you will like.  Trial and error.  The first few months is about your health.  Treat the protein as medicine, and hopefully you will find one or a few that will taste decent (at the end).

I went through nausea for a few months, gallbladder surgery, now pain when i eat, etc. But there are only a few days that I did not get the 80 gr of protein and water.   And a lot of those days are around surgeries or tests that I had (and had to fast for).  So, suck it in, check eggface site for any recipe, check the recipe forum, and try your best to do what you can.

There were days that the mere smell of food sent me to the bathroom, what did I do? I put a clothes pin on my nose (a small one) and ate or drunk .... Drastic - maybe - did it work - you bet.  Not moving after eating (limited my nausea), anti nausea medicine, a lot of ginger tea, just to name a few.
FYI: Mostly I still get nausea if I drink cold drinks so even my protein shakes are warm.  I had to but portable thermos I can drink from so I can carry my warm teas and shakes...

In a retrospect? I lost 100 lbs, I am at or close to my goal weight, I am size 6-8 and look good.  I lost some hair, but I still have plenty left - and that after 3 surgeries last year.... I have my energy back....

I wish you luck.  Treat next few months (or maybe for you just weeks) like a healing process- and the vit and protein as something you need to get better...As long as they stay in- the taste- you can work on that after you loose all the weigh and are healthy...

Best wishes....

You'll do fine. If you log your food on thedailyplate.com or some similar site, it breaks it down. If you have a good protein 3 x a day, it's easy. Take a look at it when you can. I had 76 gm, today, with 1 egg, chili w/beans and meatloaf. You don't need to worry about it right after surgery, as much. Drink your protein shakes when possible but this is a time to heal. Good luck tomorrow, and we will be waiting to welcome you to the losers bench!

Thanks for the ideal.  The dailyplate.com, I will jot that down so I can use it after surgery.  Thanks so much.  Hope to see everyone soon.  Keep me in your prayers
