Since I am in the pureed stage I have been eatting a lot of refried beans and chili.  I noticed the sodium content can be higher than fresh foods.  After RNY, how much sodium per day should we not exceed.  I just want to be sure to not eat too much.
Thanks~

When I asked my Nut about sodium intake (specifically when I was going hog wild on dill pickles) she said to keep my total daily level at around 2500mg.  At that early stage I wasn't coming anywhere close to that number and I've since heard that 2500mg is considered "low sodium."

Call your Nut and ask what their recommendation is for your specific program.

My Nut told me if I had to eat canned to rinse the veggie REAL WELL before cooking and eating it. It helps to get rid of a lot of the sodium. Never cook it in the liquid it is packed in. Sometime I have to go to a church food pantry and all they have is canned veggies so this was a real help for me.
