pre-op liquid diet...HELP!
The first 4 days of the liquid diet are the hardest. Once the 5th day arrives, things get more manageable. This is the time you're able to prove to yourself how strong you are!
My surgeon's practice has all patients purchase the liquid diet "food". We have 2 protein shakes per day and 1 bowl of "soup" (broth with floaties - gross!). I ended up skipping their powdered soup and just did chicken broth and strained soup on my own. We were also allowed any sugar-free liquid like crystal light, diet V8 Splash, broth, popsicles, tea, etc.
I lose 15 pounds on the 2 week liquid diet. It was worth every miserable day of that diet just so I could have a jumpstart on my weight loss. I also believe the liquid before surgery made the liquids and pureed diet after surgery easier to deal with.
Good luck

H! I just had surgery and my pre-op diet was Boost or Glucerna LC I am a diabetic.SF Jello, SF Popcycles, Clicken, beef or veg. broth. It was 5 Boost drinks a day. I cup of broth and all the SF jello and popcycles I wanted. THen I could have anything SF to drink as long plus caffine free Tea and coffee. I lost 12 lbs before surgery. This was really hard but I was so glad that I did it. Good luck! Annette
