Melon

At what point after surgery did any of you add Melon to your intake? And what types? I've read that the sweetness of the melon can cause carb cravings. Anyone able to eat melon and not crave carbs? I like Melon of all types, and I think the fiber would do me good. Also help with getting all my liquids in?

I was not cleared for raw fruits and veggies until 3 months out.  At the 6-week point I could have soft canned fruits (peaches, pears, etc) if it was packed in it's own juice (not syrup).  Call your Nut to see when you're cleared for fruit.

Most people don't have a major problem with small amounts of fruit and their natural sugars... but some people dump on it, so be careful.  Here's a great website that shows the sugar content in different types of fruits and other produce:

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it very much. I went ahead and tried a small piece the other day. Went down, and stayed down fine. So, I have like 1-1.5oz each day now. Tastes really good, and I think it helps with fiber issues. Or it's all in my head. LOL

I love cantaloupe.  Started eating it as soon as I was cleared for fruits. I have it several times a week, and I often pair it with prosciutto.

It makes me pretty full, and yeah, theres a lot of water in melon so it probably does help w/fluid intake

I personally don't experience carb cravings from melon. I guess it's a YMMV thing.
